Vibes and Prayers for my greyhound, Omar

Recommended Posts

Hey everybody,

My greyhound, Omar, the sweetest boy you will ever meet, just had some of his bowel removed that conained a sizeable tumor. Greys have issues with anesthesia, so I was ecstatic he even survived the surgery, especially given how weak he was. That said, they are prone to cancer and the stuff they biopsied is being checked for cancerous cells as I type this.

He had a tough life and was raced into the ground before retiring. Any vibes, prayers, and positive thoughts would be appreciated....he deserves it!

Thanks a lot.

Vibes for Omar!

We had two greyhounds in past years. We lost one to cancer and the other made a dash for the outside and couldn't outrun a car. Just was out at their graves today, planting dogwoods.

Here's hoping that Omar's surgery not only cures all his ills, but also magically solves the notorious greyhound problem of farts that could peel the paint off the walls.

Ah, so you know him! ?;)

I feed him yogurt twice a day and that seems to help MOST of the time. :D

I am finally attaching a pic. It doesn't capture his speed or grace, but it definitely captures what a sweet sensitive soul he has. :)

Thanks everybody!

Aww, so sorry to hear that, Cora.

Jack, thinking of you and your friend Omar.

Thank you to everybody for their heartfelt wishes and support, especially Cora.

This evening I decided to end Omar's suffering. He was in pain, his breathing was labored, and he had lost the ability to regulate his body tempt. These things coupled with the fact that he had shown no improvement since his surgery were telltale signs that he was destined to suffer without intervention.

He was such a sweetheart and rarely did people escape his charms and not fall head over heels in love with him. He loved peanut butter, apples, and turkey necks....ok, he loved everything except veggies, but who could blame him?

He survived being raced into the ground (over 150 races) and mauled by a loose pit bull....and was a sweetheart till the very end. When my neices visited they walked him while touching and leaning on him and he never complained, walked away, or snapped. He was at his funniest at the dog park. While all the other dogs played, he went from owner to owner to for hugs and scratches, and he got plenty.

Finally.......he can run free. :(
