kelel01 1 #2 July 25, 2006 That's odd. I give it away. I think I'd have an ethical problem with selling it. Buuuuuuuuuut . . . it takes about an hour to an hour and a half, and you'll feel fine right after. Losing red blood cells is what makes you feel weak/tired/crappy after giving blood, and you get all those back during the process. Edit: grammar stuff

adventurechick 0 #5 July 25, 2006 Quote Your kidding right? Did some jackass Skygod put that idea into your head?? Nope, they advertise it around the campus to us poor college students... and if you do it regularly you get paid $180.00 a month. I figure that would cover the costs for some jump tickets a month. SarahC07 0 #6 July 25, 2006 They advertise the same thing in College Station. I'm not sure how much they pay for donating plasma... but I know a few people who do it and haven't had any problems.
PostWhorse 0 #7 July 25, 2006 They won't let me. Apparently it was something to do with heroin. Post Whorse was here. The semi-official dropzone.com mascot.
SarahC07 0 #8 July 25, 2006 While my problem is not heroin, they won't let me sell plasma for the same reason I can't donate blood.... ... I lived in England for more than 18 months in the 1980's and could possibly have mad cow disease...
waltappel 1 #9 July 25, 2006 QuoteI just kinda realized today that I'm a bit broke.... so I'm going to sell my plasma for jump tickets! Has anyone done this before? How long does it take? Would I be alright to jump right after? For some reason I thought it was illegal these days to pay people for plasma. Anyway, I did it years ago. It's sort of a two-step process. First they take a bunch of blood then, after extracting the plasma, they put the remaining stuff back in you. No big deal. When I did it the medical screening beforehand was a real joke. A "doctor" asked me a few questions and was checking off the answers before I had the opportunity to answer. It was pretty funny. Make sure you drink plenty of water afterward and you should be fine for jumping. Walt

fields 0 #11 July 25, 2006 That is what I thought. I had heard the blood products industry didn't pay any longer, because of concerns that people would not be truthful during the screening process. kelel01 1 #12 July 25, 2006 When I've done it, it's not a "first they", and "then they" type process. It's simultaneous (relatively, anyway). Out one arm and in the other.
