woodpecker 0 #1 August 11, 2006 I've noticed a lot of people switching over to firefox and wondering the benefits or using one over the other. v/r BillySONIC WOODY #146 There is a fine line between cockiness and confidence -- which side of the line are you on? Casch 0 #2 August 11, 2006 Firefox seems to have fewer security holes, and better (less annoying) popup blocking IMO. It's also more customizable with hundreds of different skins and plugins of all sorts. (mouse gestures, tabbed browsing, winamp widgets, and a hell of a lot more). It also tends to be nicer from a web development viewpoint. It's more standards compliant than IE, and things tend to behave more consistantly. That said, a lot of sites are still built "for" IE, using ActiveX components, or HTML/Javascript specific to IE. Microsofts browser is a lot better than it used to be, but it can still be a pain in the ass from time to time.
GogglesnTeeth 6 #3 August 11, 2006 I'm a huge fan of Firefox, but I have found a few websites are less than "firefox friendly." My laptop recently decided that it doesn't like firefox either.... so I'll have to fix that.... Goggles and Teeth "You fall like a greased safe!!!" 'Shell Safari is the debil. FireFox Mac has a few issues, but nothign else has remotely comparable ad blocking capabilities, and it's fast. Memory leakage though, albeit not nearly as bad as Bloatfaricavete terrae.
