A question for the deaf and blind

Recommended Posts

I remember in high school, we had a substitute teacher, Mr. Brown, who was blind. AMong the questions I heard other students ask him (seriously):

"How do you know when you're awake?" and
"When you go pee, how do you know where to aim?"
:S

And how would a blind person be able to read this post?

they may not be able to "read" it but windows can read it for them... :P

Yeah but if they are blind AND deaf, that kinda won't work for them.

We had a full-time teacher that was legally blind (he could only read 2" tall or better letters written in black permanent marker) and he was such a sweet man.

We felt bad for taking advantage of him and cheating on all of his Washington State History tests. [:/]:P:S

Dude, you just gave me a brilliant idea....a braille monitor.

Seriously, if they can make screens sensitive to touch, why not replace the sensors behind the screen with thousands of tiny rods that poke the screen out? Then all you'd have to do is create the software to translate what's on the screen into braille.

They could even come up with a universal braille symbol for the mouse icon so you could move the mouse with one hand and feel where it's going on the screen with the other.

You really should have asked Walt this in his Ask Walt thread. I'm sure he'd have a cogent answer.
