My husband bought me a new iPOD... download tips?

Recommended Posts

Probably because I use musicmatch.

iTunes does not have any of the features iTunes does. I was told by someone I work with that it does but I must have a defunct version:D.

I can't sort the play lists by artist they way I would like.

I like the way music match does it. I basically have folders for each artist. When I open that folder I see each album(remember when we called them albums)
with the songs in track order.

iTunes shows EVERY SONG by EVERY ARTIST. It makes it a P.I.T.A. to do a quick search. Plus for some reason itunes will randomly not load one(or more) of my songs as if the file were corrupt.
that would be fine if the file was in fact corrupt but I can plug My iPod in and update my playlist and all will go well but a week later when I plug it in I get a fair amount of random songs that will not load. (the songs form the old playlist that are still in the updated list.[:/]>:(

JT,

I think that the "Browse" view in iTunes gives you what you want if I understand you right....see attached.

To sort a playlist by artist...click on the bar above the Artist column and it will sort by artist...click again and it sorts in the opposite order.

The search window in the upper right corner is very fast at finding whatever you are looking for in my experience.

Smart playlists are very cool...you can set conditions and rules up the yinyang...I have one set up for music acquired in the last month...that excludes the genre "Children" and all artists my wife likes. Very handy when you get new stuff and forget you got it.

iTunes 7 is the latest version...just over a week old.

The Skydive Radio podcasts can be subscribed to from inside iTunes. Click on the iTunes Store, click on Podcasts and enter Skydive Radio in the search window...it'll appear for you in a moment or two.

Oh, and here is the newest way to browse your albums (I still use that term too) you just click on the right most button above "View at the top of the Window and it will display your album covers and the songs on each album...see attached. It's very cool.

iTunes has a new feature to get album art but I have a lot of tracks with no album information so I have a lot of blanks after using it.

Here are screen grabs of the "Edit Smart Playlist" and "Backup" windows. I mentioned the backup feature a day ago I think.

No worries, Oren - haven't started any massive downloads (other than the porn of course)!:)

Don't you know the rules about downloading porn at the DZ? All porn downloads must be approved by the network admin (Me). I expect you to burn it all onto DVD for my approval B|

My advice would be to cancel the order, and change to a Creative Zen 60GB - same price (or was last time I looked and when I bought one) and they are WAY easier to use. You can use mp3 (which I dont think the new iPods use) and you don't have to use iTunes - you can use your Windows Media Player, which is FAR easier than iTunes, you can download music from anywhere and it will work........
I love my Zen - it is easy to use, reliable, and compatible with just about everything. Only downside is I wont be able to spend $100s more on crappy accessories that I will hardly ever use!! ;)

All iPods play mp3s. They always have and likely always will.

I've changed to Linux cos I'm sick of the porn sites infecting me with adware - what, at least I'm honest!

Anyone know of a good Ipod sync program, I tried downloading Banshee but I couldnt get it to work. Linux is a bit over my head to be honest. Too involved. Don't suppose they make one with a self installer? Silly question. Im using Ubuntu anyway

This isn't really related to this thread...but I thought this blogger's experience with a cel phone/mp3 player called the LG Fusic was hilarious.

Talk about bad hardware/software design!!
