I guess I'm one of the few who didn't think it was that bad. The flying was fun but a little repetitive in that I would like to see a little more different aspects/disciplines in the actual video - hmmm....naked swooping anyone? I also got a little bit bored with the search for the Otter and while I thought the concept was cute and entertaining, I think the actual video (if it includes such aspects) should not put too much time into building up the story (as I thought the doc. did - but they are diffferent types of movies, I realize).

Anyway, I imagine that the actual movie will have better editing and camera shots but I really didn't think it was that bad in the doc. either - I mean WTH are people expecting ?

what I DID expect to see is a video that someone who has experience making movies with some kind of plot line, however thin they usually are.

when someone with a "name" says here's an example of a movie, I expect there to be some higher quality editing than the vast majority of us can do. I am still only at 63% of D/l the movie, and I will watch it in it's entirety (I may skip past the otter part) and view it as if it were just anohter skydiver with sub 200 jumps submitting it.

I'm sure my opinion would be much more open minded.

I watched the video and have some comments, but I would like to precede them with a couple of things.

First, you have a very tough audience here. Virtually everyone at dz.com as seen a lot of very high-quality skydiving videos from people who are the best in the business. The bar has been set really high for *any* video that has skydiving in it and I don't mean for just the skills displayed by the jumpers, but for the camera work and post-production stuff. For any video featuring skydiving sequences, the expectations are *very* high here.

Second, some of the things that work really well for porn, just don't seem to translate well to a skydiving context. The shooting the finger thing is a good example. Not that I think it's some horrible thing--it's not--I'm just not sure why it's there.

I like the fact that there are frequent changes in scene or camera angle. That works well. I have a short attention span and keeping things moving keeps me interested. There are a lot of scenes that seem to drag, though, so I think the editing could be considerably tighter. I understand this was sort of a "throw together quickly" thing, though.

The whole "search for the Otter" thing really seemed to drag and had zero meaning to me and it's not clear to me that it would be anything *except* unnecessary padding in either porn or skydiving video. The voiceover, for some reason, just sounded kind of annoying.

Most of the air-to-air camera work wasn't anywhere near being close-in, and that's distracting. I'm assuming these were just some clips you had on hand and that the clips used in the final video will be of a higher quality.

I haven't seen a lot of porn, so I can't claim to be any kind of an expert, but it occurs to me that mixing porn and skydiving in the same video is going to be a truly tough challenge. On one hand, you've got very high expectations for the skydiving portions, but the porn that I have seen typically has very poor production values but did a good job of poking fun at itself. Skydiving videos don't seem to generally have much humor in them. Mixing the two formats by finding a good middle ground and weaving them seamlessly is going to be really, really tough.

Overall, I'd say that the script is going to have to have a much higher level of sophistication than typical porn and the skydiving portions are going to have to be de-emphasized somehow. Maybe by using dream sequences or flashbacks or something--I don't know. The ground portions on the DZ are going to have to be a lot more polished than typical porn, I think, if they are going to work.

I'm not really much into porn, but I'm going to follow this. It seems to have a lot of good opportunities for some serious creativity and I hope you really exploit those opportunities.

ok I watched the whole thing.
it DID get better but the whole search for the otter peice should be edited out.it was nothing more than a waste of time/space filler.
I can see how the video would be cool if I was a taft skydiver. its always cvool to see local videos but this was not my case.

there were a handful of good shots but there were a few clips that looked like they were forgotten on final edit. they should have been removed. (I know, now, this was a "throw together piece")
even with that Inmind I struggled to watch the last 5 minutes. and that is where the footage got closer and over all better.

if I had to choose a five minuteblock of THAT video to watch it would be the last 5 minutes.

I had to laugh when you had your "airgasm" because I could imagine you sitting at the computer watching the footage and having a fake airgasm (probly the first time somebody faked one of those)

(you would totaly get the humor if you saw my "meet Bret" edit. maybe I'll post it on sdmovies. its ohnly 50 seconds long but its funny as hell.

God, i love when people do that. The whole "do you honestly" thing. Its such a very clever way of implying that I must be a moron for saying something.

The very defintion of a trailer is that which shows you an upcoming COMMERCIAL endeavor (as per the header on the section). So, you idea of what skydivingmovies.com is is WRONG. There is in fact a section to "pimp" future COMMERCIAL projects.

Hell, what she posted is NOT a trailer. Nor is it promoting the final product. All she was doing was showing people what types of things the movie might contain. And it was a skydiving movie. Which just happens to fall right into the criteria for skydivingmovies.com. But if you want to get techinical, it may be considered a trailer for the STYLE of the future product.

So, at most, it may have been posted in the wrong section.

I don't manage the website, I just provide the machine, power and bandwidth for it to operate (i.e. the expensive bits). I don't control the upload/download sections. I just notice when the bandwidth usage spikes and I have to throw the policer on it. There is a lot that goes into supporting the site, hundreds of thousands of dollars in equipment. Granted it isn't all for SDM and I would still need the equipment even if SDM wasn't here but it does increase the load on my network and take service away from paying customers when it is abused. A little bit of respect is all I ask

Overall I found the video to be incredibly boring. There was no plot, the skydiving was sub-par, and the footage of the skydiving was sub-par. The video dragged on way too long. I agree the "search for the otter" thing was rather random and unwarranted. There was just nothing genuinely exciting about the video. Nothing really jumped out at me.

We were also misled by the prior label of XXX movie when all we saw was a couple boobies.

As mentioned before, "I'll never get those 20 minutes of my life back."

Get some better footage of some better skydiving and add some more sex and then I'll think about it.
