Amazon 7 #27 November 11, 2006 In Flanders Fields by Colonel John McCrae In Flanders fields the poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row, That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below We are the dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved, and were loved, and now we lie In Flanders fields. Take up our quarrel with the foe To you from failing hands we throw The torch; be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders fields. ACMESkydiver 0 #28 November 11, 2006 QuoteLOL - yeah, I forgot that one. Chuck did 21 years - 18 in SF. His dad is a retired SGM and my own Dad was as well. He did 26 years. I only hope I have the perseverence. We're a bunch of army brats, too...my dad, his dad, hubby, my brother, myself...Joe has been in longer than any of us, though. It's time for daddy to stay home for good; I can't WAIT for April!!! I traded BDU's for maternity clothes when my tour ended. We decided that I should stay home and be a mommy, and it turns out that it was the only decision we could have made, with our 'unique' family circumstances. -Circumstances which, interestingly enough, have proven to be an entirely different kind of adventure. In my opinion, this is much, MUCH more difficult than training troops how to use commo equipment! I'd go back to my little job in the army to take a break from this for a week or two if I could! I was just a SPC, so I wasn't anything really important at all...not like I was in charge of a whole company or anything. I was a pretty good trainer though, if I do say so myself. ~Jaye Do not believe that possibly you can escape the reward of your action.
NlghtJumper 0 #29 November 12, 2006 Quote NO.... Thank You All. for supporting your armed services for sending letters and packages for standing by us even when we dont look the greatest for exercising your freedom of speech for exercising your right to vote, and bear arms for stepping up to serve your country for flying an American flag for paying the taxes that buys us bullet proof stuffSmile for shedding tears for fallen service membersFrown for buying a uniformed man a drink at the airportCrazy for military discounts at gear retailersTongue for the civilian pilots who fly us home from warSmile I completely agree. Without the support I have recieved from everyone back home, those who know me, and those who don't, I don't know where I would be. Thank you!!! (When is Armed Forces Supporter Day?) Even a specialist... without a Specialist, or PFC, or Private, then the ARMY would have a hard time functioning. Ragnarok 0 #32 November 12, 2006 Veterans Day has always been a proud holiday for me. Since I am now a Veteran, it has a more profound meaning for me. It is those that exercise their freedoms that I hope never really know the price that has been paid. jojo69 0 #33 November 12, 2006 I am proud that I served and I still tear up at the Star Spangled Banner. The people I served with were so wonderful and professional that it made it hard to work in the private sector. When people say bad things about this country I just remind them that people are fighting and dying every day to give them that right and they should cherish that and be thankful. NlghtJumper 0 #38 November 12, 2006 We dont quite run the company, but ask any NCO and they will tell you, when you have someone else who is knowedgable and can step up and help lead whatever detail is going on, it makes things a whole lot easier. I guess the E-3's and below can apprechiate any constructive advice because it is coming from more of a peer than a supervisor.
