mrGuy 0 #1 November 12, 2006 When a photo is cropped and saved, but the thumbnail of that photo still shows the entire image pre-cropped, is it possible to recover the whole image? Or is the thumbnail completely separate, and has nothing to do with the full size image?

bob.dino 0 #3 November 12, 2006 Define thumbnail. Is that the thumbnail you see in Windows Explorer when you have View | Thumbnails selected? Or the thumbnail displayed by some program?
mrGuy 0 #4 November 13, 2006 I use PhotoFiltre to edit still images. And To answer the second question: The thumbnails I'm refering to are indeed those that apear in "Windows Picture and Fax Viewer."
bob.dino 0 #5 November 13, 2006 QuoteAnd To answer the second question: The thumbnails I'm refering to are indeed those that apear in "Windows Picture and Fax Viewer." This is not a definitive answer, but it looks like Windows Picture and Fax Viewer is using the same thumbnails that Explorer itself uses. If so, the thumbnail is most probably cached and doesn't represent the information in the file. So, I doubt the original file can be reconstructed.
