udder 0 #1 February 11, 2007 On friday after a jump I found my cypres display cracked/leaking black stuff around the screen I went through the video of the jump and nothing even came close to hitting my rig... I jump a Javelin and it's very well protected against my back so I have no idea how it broke, or whether its just leaking... Does anyone have experience with getting a new display? Turn around times etc? I live in Australia and what makes it worse it that I just got it back from a 4 year service a month ago. And my DZ is a compulsory AAD one. So I have to get a hire one while it travels to Germany.(I think) Anyhow...thats my cry for the day. Im going to have a beer."In one way or the other, I'm a bad brother. Word to the motherf**ker." skip 0 #3 February 11, 2007 Though there is no noticeable crack, my cypress unit has a small amount of black “bleeding” on the display. Once discovered it seamed to be working fine, my rigger could find nothing wrong with it, and it has since been sent out for the eight year check up and came back with an A+ bill of health. One note to make - the black “bleeding” has been the exact same shape and has not increased in size etc. since its discovery. For what it’s worth. neilp
udder 0 #4 February 11, 2007 Nope, my baby stays in a cool cupboard and only goes into the car for the trip to the DZ. And the display is totally unusable. I looked at it very closely and there seems to be a crack coming from the side...but I have no idea how anything could have impacted there, or whether it was abused in a previous life and just needed something to trigger it? But back to my real question, anyone have experience with turn around times, and cost?"In one way or the other, I'm a bad brother. Word to the motherf**ker." voodew1 0 #5 February 11, 2007 $180ish and a couple of weeks Mine did the same thing a few years ago when the packer slammed another rig into the cypres display The pimp hand is powdered up ... say something stupid
bob.dino 0 #6 February 12, 2007 That's a cracked LCD. Probably needs replacement. Contact Grant at Total Control - he can sort you with a loaner/rental while yours gets fixed. Or, Airtec may just tell you to install a new control unit. Either way, TC is your first stop.
skydivezimbabwe 0 #7 February 12, 2007 I just had the same sh*t - Tandem rig hanging on the rack from one weekend to the next and the cypres display is black. No cracks or anything.Rob-By Check it out at http://www.skydive.co.zw Clicky!
jheadley 0 #8 February 12, 2007 when you put your pilot chute into it's pouch, do you turn the container upside down and beat on the bottom? That might damage the cypres.
chanti 0 #9 February 12, 2007 My teammate recently had the same problem - though his was self-induced Airtec was awesome - they repaired it no charge. If you like you can PM my buddy - his DZ.com name is nicolaos -Chanti-

Quite right, for those with the display in the yoke. The backpad location is vulnerable in other ways. I often see rigs abused in ways that would be tough for either location.People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
