really? you get decent brightness during daylight with 1200 lumens?

With lights off and blinds closed (standard translucent white blinds) it's fine.

wht sort of life to you get from the globes? (in hours?)

It's rated for 1000 hrs I think. We've put about 250 on it so far. Replacement cost is about $300 last I checked.

So you don't use it as your primary source of TV viewing then? 1000hrs isn't very long?

Lots of working, jumping, and rigging I guess. We watch movies and Tivo'd shows but not nearly as much TV as when we were kids.

If only he'd left the resolution at something like 800x600, then THAT would have been entertaining!

Well, since you have a HUGE monitor, I guess you're going to have to play Quake all day.B|

hooknswoop has his laptop hooked up to his LCD flat screen in the family room. Pretty nice set up, watch TV and surf DZ.com during commercials.

That looks like a modern 911-Dispatch setup. A lot of them have 4-8 monitors spread out for one computer. All the screens are full of windows needed for all the information that is handled, processed and returned. Its impressive, really.

Isn't that just the sexiest thing you ever saw in a video presentation? Sony have sent me another 4K for a demo I'm doing at Sundance Film Fest next week, and I keep trying to find ways that the projector can "fall off the truck." I've got a 14' projection system at home that is only WXGA.
I do have it wired via network to my main CPU, so I can stream vids from there; watching skydiving clips makes friends a little queasy because it's just like "being there."

Well, if you want a "real" projector, you better hope a Barco, Christie Digital Systems, or Digital Projection, brand falls off the truck... Sony just does not have the projection market share in the professional world for large format presentations.

Aha - thats a nice setup. How much room have you got for the keyboard? i can't stand being too cramped with the mouse and keyboard - i like LOTS of desk space.

However my deskspace will be reduced tomorrow when my nice shiny new macbook pro arrives B|B|

I have enough room to do what I want really. If you look again at the photo, I have 2 keyboards set up and there is enough room to support your arms when working and since I use track ball mice, I don't need a lot of room for the mouse/mice. Plus there is enough room for me to have notes to myself, bills ,a drink and the usual crap around everything else.

Mine aren't huge but they work pretty well for what I do with them. I have a Samsung 20" 1600x1200 digital monitor as my primary, another no-name 20" 1600x1200 analog as a secondary, and a small 1024x768 as a tertiary. Usually I put board layouts on #1, schematics on #2 and browser/email on #3.

Reminds me of a Chappelle show episode, where he discusses the iBooks large screen:

And with the big screen, when I'm watching porn, I can see all sorts of parts of the vagina I didn't even know existed. Flaps and flocks and flip flaps... wow.

I don't have one that big... but I do have these three to work with... :$

you know, Matrox sells a box for ~$350 that takes a really, really wide resolution and parcels it out to the three screens. FPS players say it's about like having a 180 degree field of view.

The difference is that setup displays a normal resolution. The Triplehead2Go's resolution is 3840 X 1024!
