jefmwols 0 #1 November 1, 2006 I'm the technical director at a public highschool, and we're looking for old parachutes for our gymnasium. Please let me know if you are looking to get rid of any. Thanks, Jeff Wolski
Beer 0 #2 November 2, 2006 I'd assume that you are looking for old round parachutes. Most of us here have newer square ram air or elyptical type canopies. Those few that do have rounds keep them around and jump them for nastalgic reasons. Your best bet would be an Army-Navy surplus outlet or Ebay. Learn to be happy. rasmack 0 #3 November 2, 2006 In this forum you may want to specify for which purpose the parachutes are to be used... HF #682, Team Dirty Sanchez #227 “I simply hate, detest, loathe, despise, and abhor redundancy.” - Not quite Oscar Wilde...
scotts 0 #4 November 2, 2006 Maybe this? When I was in the 4th grade (1969), we had a round parachute that all the kids spread out holding the outside edge. On the count of 3, we all raised the chute as high and as fast as we could, stepped underneath it, and then sat down while holding the edge behind us. That, was cool! We called it the 'Jiffy Pop'. councilman24 36 #5 November 2, 2006 Enter parachute in Ebay search. You'll find plenty. Be aware that many are 35' in diameter. You probably want to look for 24 footers. "Parachutes" spedifically made for play are always on there also.I'm old for my age. Terry Urban D-8631 FAA DPRE

riggerrob 558 #8 November 2, 2006 Note that most round skydiving parachutes - built during the last thirty years - have numerous holes in them. Some of those holes are covered by mesh, but they still don't hold enough air for schoolyard games. Also remember that round parachutes fell out of fashion for skydiving (mains) 25 or 30 years ago. Every couple of years, someone asks me about the old (sort of round) Para-Commander on the back shelf, but when they hear that I intend to charge for a repack, quickly lose interest.
