The story behind it was that I was in Navy bootcamp...homesick as you can get...knowing that I had fucked ,up as the Vietnam war was raging. We had a little plastic radio on the wall in our barracks that we could listen to just prior to lights out. Country Roads came on and the tear machine started. I looked around and half the guys in the barracks were doing the same. My wife thinks its hilarious that an entire lifetime away from that place I still tear up when it comes on the radio.
