floridadiver81 0 #1 August 15, 2007 Today was offically my last day of active duty! I can now do whatever i want! Im doing the active reserves though...ya know..the one weekend a month 2 weeks a year thing. I was a little confused with the inactive ready reserves and the active reserves. Ill still be able to advance and retire. Im also changing jobs too. So i will no longer be a CS. I will decide what im going to be tomorrow."Age has absolutely nothing to do with knowledge, learning, respect, attitude, or personality." -yardhippie "Fight the air, and the air will kick your ass!!! floridadiver81 0 #6 August 15, 2007 Nope. The CS rate is WAY overmanned...active and in the reserves E-4 through E-6. Im picking a job that i know i can learn fast and that advancement is wide open for. Its only going to be part time...so its not that big of a deal."Age has absolutely nothing to do with knowledge, learning, respect, attitude, or personality." -yardhippie "Fight the air, and the air will kick your ass!!! joblades 0 #8 August 15, 2007 If you are in the reserves, chances are you will be active duty again in no time. If you are in the Navy then you might be fine since they mostly take individual augmentees . Good luck with staying free.~Freedom is never free

popsjumper 2 #11 August 15, 2007 Working for a GF's Dad is never a good idea. When you lose your turn, you also lose your job. My reality and yours are quite different. popsjumper 2 #12 August 15, 2007 In the Army Reserves you could apply for Post Whore. I forget what the MOS is. 69 Bravo or something like that. My reality and yours are quite different. I wanted to finish college without being interupted by being called to war.----------------- I love and Miss you so much Honey! floridadiver81 0 #15 August 15, 2007 OK..for some reason it wont let me edit it...so its down here...lol Im now crossrating to Operations Specialist in the Naval Reserve. Im getting a 10,000 dollar bonus. Ill get half upfront and the other half after i pass the rating test for OS2. Im keeping my E-4 also. All i have to do to pass the test is cut a 37. For you non military folk 80 is a perfect score. I can cut a 37 on the test blindfolded using my feet to write with. I will do 12 years and 11 months in the reserves and retire at whatever rank i am..which im shooting for at least E-6. Additionally im getting a job working with tab's dad who is an assistant superintendant for Haskell Construction. Most of you already know about that job as i put a post about it like a month ago as misskriss pointed out. Starting at pretty good pay for not having a completed degree. For the skydivers that know me...i know i stalled my AFF but once i get everything settled and take care of a few personal things i will be finishing aff and getting back in the sky to do some CReW with ya'll. Thats all for now :-)"Age has absolutely nothing to do with knowledge, learning, respect, attitude, or personality." -yardhippie "Fight the air, and the air will kick your ass!!! I can retire from the active reserves but i wont be able to actually collect the retirement untili reach the age of 60. And its a slightly smaller percentage."Age has absolutely nothing to do with knowledge, learning, respect, attitude, or personality." -yardhippie "Fight the air, and the air will kick your ass!!! It must be considerbly less than if you stayed active duty and finished your 20 then. I mean I did almost 22 years active duty and retired, but I damn sure can't retire on E-7 pay even after pulling a full 22 years.
floridadiver81 0 #19 August 16, 2007 you are right bro. Military retirement is hardly enough to live off of...which is why i plan on double dipping.I can start a second career and retire off of that at 46 or even 60 if i like it and collect 2 retirements on top of my investements and stocks etc."Age has absolutely nothing to do with knowledge, learning, respect, attitude, or personality." -yardhippie "Fight the air, and the air will kick your ass!!! They want to splurge now and when they get old and cant work...they're screwed. I refuse to be one of them people.
