"she was built like a brick shit-house"

WTF???:S:S

this one is easy.. Out houses were generally wood.. building one of brick was seen as excessively over done and fancy.. therefore 'originally' being compared to a 'brick shithouse' was NOT a compliment..

'brickhouse' (the song) is just a nicer shortened version of the same phrase after it had long since reversed meaning..

---------------------------------------------------------------

i despise..

"Good on you"

like it is something that rubs off??

I never understood that one either. I prefer "built like Jessica Rabbit". :)

She's not built ...she's just drawn that way. ;)

"O brave new world that has such people in it".

hahahahaha, that's brilliant! Over here it is most definitely a huge insult. You're likely to get a slap in the face if you tell a girl she's built like a brick shithouse! Funny that there's such a contradiction in meaning between the two countries when no doubt the phrase most likely had the exact same origin.

hang on, are you telling me that currently in the US if you said someone was built like a brick shithouse that would be a compliment????

Yes, definitely yes.:)

That is fucking awesome!!!:D:D

Is it also a compliment to tell someone they've got a face like horse's arse? What if I went up to someone and said "Hey baby, you're so fat if you wore high heels you'd strike oil!" - would they like that?
Do you want to have an ideagasm?

The full phrase I heard while growing up back when dirt was new was "She's built like a brick shithouse -- stacked!"

Does that clarify it for you pommy bastards?;)

Faster horses, younger women, older whiskey, more money.

Why do they call it "Tourist Season" if we can't shoot them?
