DMV and fees GRRR!!!!

Recommended Posts

Just went to get plates for my new motorcycle. After wasting an hour of my day I get home and look over my reciept. On top of the $25 wheel tax, and $62 excise tax they hit me for a $10 contribution to the "Spinal Cord and Brain Injury Fund" It wouldn't tick me off so much if they had asked if I'd like to contribute to it, but no they just throw it on there. I'm sure it is some kind of legislation, but I've never seen it on my truck registration. I almost feel it's discrimatory, people in cars get head injuries too, why single out the bikers?

Do any other states have something like this?

I'm off to contact my congress people, thanks for letting me vent

When I recently went to the Colorado DMV to switch my plates from Pennsylvania to Colorado, they didn't even list what the money went to or the taxes...

It cost me $131.07 to register my car....$131.07 for two pieces of aluminum that I can probably find a way to make for $50...

So I feel your pain dude...
Puttin' some stank on it.

I pay like $38 a year for my sled plates..and they're vanity plates to boot.
;)

Oh yeah, the total bill with the new title etc was 137, and that only gets me to Feb. Have to renew them again then. Indiana car registration really bites

some states charge property tax on the vehicle...EVERY fucking year!

I bought a car in Virginia while up there on a contract, and just transferred plates (Florida) - the stealership made copies of the paperwork to show off to people..it cost me less than $50 if my memory serves me well ... it would have cost thousands to register there! (close anyway :P)

Alabama does that, but I don't have to pay it. No vehicle tax, no property tax, with a disability exemption. ;)
