Remster 24 #28 November 13, 2007 QuoteI thought the flu shot is basically a small injection of last years actual flu.. Its not. Every year, the Pahrma's study which stands are more active, which new combinaisions have just emerge, and make a calculated bet early in the year and start production, hoping the few strands they cover will be the ones that end up as part of a potential epidemic.Remster
tigra 0 #29 November 13, 2007 Well, the purpose of any vaccine is to trigger an immune response, correct? Swelling, redness, mild fever, coughing and sneezing are all signs that your immune system is working which is why some people feel a little crappy after a flu shot. Makes total sense to me. ryoder 1,381 #30 November 13, 2007 And for those who do get the flu, there is the old traditional treatment: http://www.quigmans.com/proofstuff/larson-big.gif"There are only three things of value: younger women, faster airplanes, and bigger crocodiles" - Arthur Jones. piratemike 0 #31 November 13, 2007 It's possible that you gut something from the shot, but highly unlikley. At last check, most illness (other than some brusing around the shot location) after the flu shot was either from a source other than the shot, or psychosomatic. Clownburner 0 #33 November 13, 2007 QuoteYou're probably right, I just wonder why I always get symptoms after getting the shot? Oh well. Some people do get some mild symptoms from the flu shot, because it causes an immune system reaction. It's usually limited to a day or two, and it should never be as bad as actually getting the flu. The most common reaction is localized pain and swelling at the injection site, with #2 being muscle soreness or aches. Few people get more than that.7CP#1 | BTR#2 | Payaso en fuego Rodriguez "I want hot chicks in my boobies!"- McBeth
enflyt 0 #34 November 13, 2007 we just got the flu mist a few weeks ago. nothin like snortin a live virus (although weakened) up your nose. its soooo gross. And then you get to feel it draining down your throat with that sickly sweet taste to it... yuck. this time, almost all of us got scratchy throats and such within a few days. nothin too bad for me. last year was worse though. oh well. gonzalesna 0 #35 November 13, 2007 They make us get one every year, but a couple years ago, they didn't distribute the shot until February. I didn't get sick until I got the shot. 'Bout fucking pointless if you ask me. Some people refrain from beating a dead horse. Personally, I find a myriad of entertainment value when beating it until it becomes a horse-smoothie. fpritchett64 0 #36 November 19, 2007 Well, I just did the flu sniff yesterday, feel fine other than a sneeze from time to time, but I doubt thats from the vaccine. Just curious though, why do they have the sniff and the shot, is one supposed to be better than the other? Also, why is one live, and the other dead?
