what is your best part time job?

Stripper

Personally, I like applying the new finish better than the stripping; fewer harsh chemicals.:)

Skydiving instructor would have to be high on my list, too.

Print shop (mine was in-house, but a Kinko's would be the same) is also kind of fun; you start the day with stacks of paper, and you end the day with finished books.

Hands down - driving buses for campus transit in college. 3 hour shifts, anytime from 6 a.m. to midnight during the week, 9 a.m. to midnight on the weekends. Way flexible, which was perfect for a full-time college student. I could work as few or as many hours a week as I wanted; usually I had a standing 12-15 hours a week but some weeks I'd pick up as many as 40 or 50 hours. Didn't have to dress up - just threw a blue uniform shirt on over whatever I was wearing at the time. We were allowed to listen to music of our choice, it was very social (I had a lot of friends who were also drivers, but also got to meet and talk to all kinds of folks while I was driving), and definitely a lot of fun (and challenging at times). And that was just regular route driving ...

Then there were the charters ... best was if you could score a cushy one where you drove a group to a destination, waited 3-4 hours and drove them back. Got paid for the whole time, so you could bring your books along with you and get paid to study. B| Or I'd drive the University President's VIP guests to the football games. 5 minute drive from one end of campus to the other (with a police escort). Park the bus outside the stadium. Watch the game, get paid to do so. Drive them back (with a police escort). 10 minutes this time because post-game traffic is worse. About 5 hours pay for about 30 minutes work (including getting the bus out and back to the lot) and a football game to boot.

Working at an Aquarium... Feeding fish, penguins, sea lions and Dolphins (along with swimming with the mammels), plus checking to make sure that they are being taken care of properly...

I loved that job!!!

I was a whitewater raft guide during my summers in college, and I still guide every now and again. It's a great job, very similar in a lot of ways to being a skydive isntructor.

A close second would be driving busses in college. See NWflyer's description of the job above. I did the exact same job at a different college.

Probably working sound or lights in highschool.

Either that or the time I got to play BMI and got my slot picked up for someone who'd had a wingsuit jump previously. :)

I worked for audiovisual services on campus and one year, I was pretty much just paid to be on call. So you do whatever you want and if a lecturer or someone has a problem with something electronic in the lecture theatre, there is a 50% chance you get called (2 of us on duty at once). Best job ever. I lived 5 mins walk from campus so I would start "working" at 7:30am and just be sleeping until my phone might ring around 10 or 11 then I would just get up, go do the job and come back home. And get paid $26 per hour to do that!

It was the best job cos I could work whenever and how much ever I wanted so as a uni student.. sometimes if you have to be on campus anyways cos you have a 4 hr break between classes, I would just be working and get paid for it!

Mystery shopping is a lot of fun.. They pay me all the time to go eat at restaurants and all over. Last week I got sent a $50 gift card and was required to spend between $40-$45 of it and my only job was to see if the cashier then offered me the store card. It was sweet. I got $45 worth of free clothing and all I had to do was write a 5 minute report...

While living in Hawaii, I was there playing AAA baseball for the Islanders (Pittsburgh affiliation). Well it does not pay what you might think. So i sold Pearls in this little booth for Crater Enterprises. The idea was to get them to buy a cultered pearl for $5.00 and then push expensive jewlery on them to put the pearl in. Well i met more women that way, they are only in Hawaii for two weeks and looking to have a good time. I look Polynesian and if i used a little pigeon english, well it was easy. You nwould not believe how many married women were looking for just a few hours of fun while thier husbands played golf. Damn i was such a whore back then. What a great job that was
So i just broke up with this woman who wasn't even my girlfriend!

Does volunteerswork count?

If not, I have to say dishwasher in an Italian restaurant.

Between keeping a nice stock of clean cutlery, plates and kitchen utensils, I also substituted as a bar-person, kitchen assistant, dessert maker and psychologhist for the waitressses.
(They'd come and vent at me whenever a customer was being rude or whatever. My job was to listen and console, cheer up or any of that stuff.)

Benefits:
An equal share in the tips, based on how many hours everyone worked each month, a free pizza or lasagna after work, and (this is important) which we could make ourselves, AND free beer after work.

Need I go on?

Almost a shame to get a real job, really ;)

When I stopped swimming, I was the women's team manager at LSU. I had about an 80% scholarship for that. My Dad loved to tell everyone that they paid me more not to swim than to swim. :P It's just that I was the only one, so they didn't have to spread the scholarship money between people.

My duties were things like issuing uniforms, weighing in the girls, waking them up when they overslept, getting the coach coffee and doughnuts, running the timing equipment and scoring at meets. It was really easy. Plus, I still got full benefits with the athletic office, so we got to go to the "special" office when we needed books, had special counselors, a special club where we hung out with alumni before football games and got free food and alcohol and we got tickets to every home game, we didn't have to be part of the lottery. It was nice.
