This is usually combined with something to make meds such as vicodin, hycotuss, hydromet, etc.

the 5/500 will have 5mg of the hydrocodone and 500mg of the other ingredient. 10/500 10mg of hydrocodone and 500mg of the other.

5-500 means 5mg of hydrocodone and 500mg of acetometiphen so the 10-500 would mean 10mg of hydrocodone..... be very careful when taking acetometiphen when or if you consume alchohol its pretty bad for you and can have some nasty effects

If you don't have a tolerance to hydrocodone, you probably won't be able to drive on the 5/500s.

Be extremely careful. You should not take more than 4000 mg of acetaminophen a day. Taking more can lead to permanent liver damage (or death). And don't drink alcohol AT ALL while you're taking that much. Acetaminophen is quite dangerous - it's the #1 most common overdose in the US.

If you need stronger pain relief, go see your doctor and get something stronger prescribed, don't just double up on the vicodin.

Dunno what your injury is, but did they give you a muscle relaxant as well? The combination of Vicodin and a muscle relaxant was the only thing that worked for my lower back pain; Vicodin alone was no better than an aspirin.

Agreed. Hydrocodone surpresses your CNS and too much combined with alcohol could POSSIBLY make you fall asleep and stop breathing. I think we all know what happens when this occurs.

Not very wise to mix meds without a doctors approval. If you have a tolerance you should talk to your doctor about that.
My doc has me on 7 different drugs at this time.
Propoxyphene N / Acetaminophen 100/650
Potassium Chloride 8meq
Fluoxetine HCL 20mg
Ranitdine HCL 150mg
Lamivudine 150mg
Zidovudine 300mg
Sustiva 200mg (this stuff makes you trip like on mushrooms and should only be taken at bedtime or Pink Floyd concerts)
And one multivitamin.
In all, I take 19 pills a day and it appears that more are coming for other health problems (overactive thyroid as I have an extremely low TSH).
As for the painkiller, I find that a joint does far better than the pill without side effects. Propoxy / acetaminophen is hell on the stomach.
