airdvr 205 #1 April 8, 2008 Rox's S-I-L just picked up a brand new Evo. Impressive, but I'm not sure it justifies the 32 grand price tag. No GPS, no room for anything in the trunk, suspension rides like its got square wheels, and tires that will be gone at 10,000 miles. Sure gets the looks tho. airdvr 205 #3 April 8, 2008 QuoteWhat are the specs on it? The 2008 Lancer Evolution is a 4-door, 5-passenger sports sedan, available in one trim only, the GSR. Upon introduction, the Lancer Evolution is equipped with a standard 2.0-liter, I4, 291-horsepower, turbo engine that achieves 16-mpg in the city and 22-mpg on the highway. A 5-speed manual transmission with overdrive is standard. Oh yea...I forgot. Really crappy MPG. But it does run like a scalded dog. From what he told me they only make a few hundred. They have to sell a street version so they can use it in Autocross or something like that. He had to have his shipped from Cali. Please don't dent the planet. Conundrum 1 #4 April 8, 2008 Ehhhhhh, for 291hp and no nav, no 6-speed, I don't think I'd pay 32k. I got my MS3 fully loaded for 29k. The new EVO does look nice, though. I'll give it that.

MagicGuy 0 #8 April 8, 2008 Evo's are nice and all - I mean, they look nice and 291HP in a car that small = fucking fast. But.. my brother had an Eclipse and that car was the biggest piece of shit ever. Everyone that I know that has had a Mitsubishi has had nothing but bad things to say about them. For 32k, I at LEAST want a 6 speed. Nevermind the whole interior to me looks pretty crappy. I'll take an STi, please.
quade 4 #9 April 8, 2008 QuoteRox's S-I-L just picked up a brand new Evo. Impressive, but I'm not sure it justifies the 32 grand price tag. Lancer Evo is really good bang for the bucks in a ready to run, street legal, autocross car. It's not about the refinement of the ride; there isn't any. It's all about how fast it gets around a race course. As a commuter or even touring car it leaves a LOT to be desired, but if you just wanna get around some cones, there probably isn't anything you can buy off the shelf and in the price range that's going to beat it. QuoteSure gets the looks tho. It gets THE looks because (in my opinion) it looks like hell to people that don't know any better and to the people that do know the car, they're marveling at it. I personally don't like anything that "obvious", but to each his own.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

pdj6p 0 #12 April 8, 2008 Trust me you really don't whant to race these cars. In fact it will scare the crap out of you if you look at how cheap the front a arm is stamped out. The ones on my lancer broke from just simple highway driving. It was not a good deal at all and don't get me started on the piece of crap transmision they put in them. I will never buy another mitsubishi of any kind after my experince with that car. Death is so permanant, and I'm just not ready for that kind of committment. ltdiver 3 #14 April 8, 2008 Quote http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=55q8o5goveY A spyder and an Evo can't be compaired to each other Interesting that they compare the Suburu WRX STI and the Mistubishi Lancer in that demo. I seriously considered buying either of those cars back when I had to replace my totaled Mustang in 2003. The only reason I didn't is that BOTH of those cars would have instantly gotten me into serious trouble right off the lot. I LOVED the way they drove (the WRX more than the Lancer), but had to discipline myself and get a rather fun (but safer) car at the time. The Eclipse GTS. It's been 5 years now. Lots of upgrades in those two, but that'd just get me into MORE trouble out there so better look away... ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

It felt as if we weren't going fast enough and each time the shift came it was a forwards slam (if you know what I mean). I was in the car biz for 20+ years.
