People who fish: what the heck is this?

Run away from it, NOW!
It's a flattened dried whatever fish.

According to the link, it was found in Utah, and apparently ate every other fish in the pond it was in.

There are other fish that do that.

Goldfish eat fish eggs and other small fish. They will clean other species out of a lake.

Garfish are scaly with a lot of bones and cartilage.
Other fish won't eat them. Even otters won't eat them.
Otters will clean out a stream and leave the gars.
Gators will only eat them as a last resort.

Snake head fish.

Bad news for that area. They are extremely predacious and will wipe out fish populations. Any caught should be killed and immediately reported to fish and game for tracking their spread.

Television said they don't think it's a snakehead.

It actually looks like a 'dragon fish'. These can be purchased at fish stores. Hell even walmart sells them at times for aquariums. I could be way wrong, but thats what it reminds me of.

Could have been owned by someone who just dumped their fish in the lake. Lots of people do this.

Please post update if the biologists figure it out.

Maybe a freshwater eel?

Seems to have the body of an eel. But the very sharp teeth are uncharacteristic of an eel (still might be one though).

I wonder how it tastes. I've had snakehead before when I was in southeast Asia, and even though quite ugly they're very tasty. Monkfish is also one ugly bastard of a fish, but delicious.

Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.

That picture will haunt my dreams forever.:| No shit I actually jumped back from my monitor when the pic loaded.:D

I was thinking the exact same thing! Hey if it's a new species, I'd vote for 'Nightmare fish'. :S

I'm not sure how that creature could get any uglier...

Looks like it was designed by Burt Rutan.

I think it's a Nom Nom Nom fish.
