skydiver30960 0 #1 May 29, 2008 When was the last time you saw ANYONE use the cigarette lighter in their car? I know I know, I'm sure I'll hear a barrage of DZ.commers who still use theirs. My point: why are we still using this as the standard for DC jacks for all our portable plug-in stuff? Yeah, it made sense in 1976, but nowadays it's a wee bit dated. Anymore, the things we're plugging in are smaller than the damn jack. Can't we come up with a more appropriately sized jack? Yeah, I know it's cool that the fuse is built-in. I don't care. As a 6 yo, you are watching other drivers race towards you and then slam on the brakes at the last moment. Mildly traumatic event that gets repeat 3 times a mile. It was then I realized I had been givin a scare story so i wouldn't play with the lighter when mom was out of the car. One guy I used to work with had a microwave in the back of the work van. Wasn't running that one off the cigarette lighter. Also done margaritas on the beach with one. Learn to be happy.
