How old is too old to wear mini-skirts?

Recommended Posts

My step-daughter ( who is only 10 years younger than me, mind you) informed me that I am too old to wear mini-skirts ( and leggings). I was shocked to hear her say this, as I don't normally wear skirts but a few inches above the knee...and I'm only 25. :|Soon to be 26. :| Now I can understand her MOM being too old, the whole no-mini-skirts-after-35 rule, but 25? WOW. Am I sadly misinformed?

edited to add: I guess she thinks anyone over 20 is too old for mini-skirts! :S

Well, your far from "old" Now how old is too old for mini-skirts? One thing in my thoughts are how do you really look in them? The other is when, and where do you wear them. Ok to go out at night, but not to say a parent, teacher conference

Even at 25? :( Okay, that may be why my step-daughter rolled her eyes and said "oh my gosh" to her mother, when I showed up at my 5 yr.old stepson's school program wearing a halter, skirt and peep toes. :S But in my defense, I wasn't dressing for that program, I was dressing for my anniversary date with my husband AFTER the event. Sarah,

Ease up on yourself about this whole age thing! :P I read your post in the womens forum and, um... :S

Say it with me now - I am not old!

There are many some that would still consider you a kid. ;)

Hell, I just turned 27 and I KNOW I have plenty ahead of me. B| Enjoy life, would ya... :)

stop listening to 16 year olds! :P

As for the mini skirts...sexiness is just another word for confidence - if it makes you feel good, wear it, age is just really a #.

Oops. No one told me that rule. I've been breaking it for years then!

I feel so naughty. >:(

I wear what I want. If someone that's 20 can wear something, I'm not about to let them tell me what I can wear. Every now and then I'll put on a mini dress or a mini skirt if the occasion is appropriate. I have three teen daughters and they don't hassle me about it.

If its done tastefully and is actually "in style" for your age group then why not? Senior ladies, yeah my opinion is no way. I am 33 and have a few mini-skirts. My boyfriends sister gave them too me and she is 36. Not all women look their age, I fall into that category. Its not uncommon when I take my 3 kids out in public with me, that I get asked if I started having kids at 12... or something else equally absurd. If your comfortable with it, other peoples opinions are just that.....;)

The over 35 rule is stupid. It really just depends on the style and how toned your legs are- there are girls in their teens and 20s who shouldn't wear minis! I'm 46, I've been spending a lot of time at the gym and my legs look pretty good if I do say so myself! I worked hard for these legs and I'll show them off if I want to! :P

Of course, what I consider a "mini" is just a few inches above the knee. I won't wear anything with my ass hanging out- I don't think that's appropriate for anyone besides strippers and hookers regardless of age. :P

I have shorts that are shorter than my mini-skirts so I don't know what the big deal is. It's not like I wear them really short, tight and with heels. Maybe I should since I'm already being inappropriate anyway!

Maybe she just rolled her eyes because it was her young step-mom, and not because of what she was wearing. I just don't want to be the one people look at go, "what the hell was she thinking wearing THAT?" I am a mommy, so I do care some. :| I don't want to come across as the inappropriately-underdressed wild, skydiving mother at the PTA. >:(

Okay here's the pic.

I have a belly piercing. I wonder if I'm too old for that too.

Absolutely NOT! That would make too old, too.;)
I really am glad to be in my 40s. More self aware and secure.
Do I wish I had better skin and fewer wrinkles? Sure I do. But I can't change it (without surgery) so I just embrace who I am. Age and maturity has helped a lot with that confidence.
Note to all you younger ladies out there - take care of your skin. Moisturize, moisturize then moisturize some more. And wear sun screen every day!!!
Be patient with the faults of others; they have to be patient with yours.
