ernokaikkonen 0 #1 November 25, 2005 Does anyone have experience on using soft links on tandem rigs? Someone told me that the soft links cause escessive wear on the tandem risers, any truth to this? Any other comments?
matthewcline 0 #2 November 25, 2005 The DZ I do a quite a few tandems at has had slinks for about 2 years. I haven't noticed any accelerated wear.An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
mark 102 #3 November 25, 2005 I tried Tandem Slinks™ on our tandems last year or the year before. I didn't like the result, and went back to Rapide™ links. With Slinks™, the sliders stopped with the grommets in contact with the risers an inch or so below the riser tops, and the "polishing" effect moved from the EZ384 sacrificial lines to the risers. I wound up replacing risers much earlier than I wanted: except for the weakened, polished/brittle area at the top, the risers were in good condition. riggerrob 558 #4 November 25, 2005 1/2 of PD's Slinks are specifically labelled: tandem and reserve. Maybe PD has to should a larger version of Slink Hats to prevent that wear pattern on main risers.
