wmw999 2,314 #1 November 7, 2008 I had a break in the cable line (my problem, expected to pay for it -- no biggie). My cable now works. But they fixed it by replacing the line (no problem) and running it across the top of the grass to a box in the neighbor's yard. We have one in our yard. So now we have cable running all over the top of our yard, and through the neighbor's to who knows where. They've now missed several appointments to bury the cable, and preferably move it to the box in our yard (seems easier to me, but I'm funny that way). I've been escalated to tech management, and to the manager of the people who bury cable. Doesn't seem to have helped. I've heard that it's mysterious, that the ticket was never sent out, and that the dog was in the back yard -- all for the same day . The dog was not in the back yard. There's a note for the cable guy on the fence. It has not moved. But now it seems that while the cable guy who fixed the line can make the decision to route my cable to a box in someone else's yard, he can't make the decision to bring it back to the box in my yard. I have to call yet another person. He has a message. Anyone want to bet whether the cable will be buried before I switch to ATT U-verse? It's not available in my neighborhood yet, but it's coming soon. Wendy W.There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. BGill 0 #3 November 7, 2008 i feel your pain. i now have verizon fios, and while it may not be as fast as all the hype says it is, it's a hell of a lot more reliable than comcast with their intermittent signals and horrible service.
mamajumps 0 #4 November 7, 2008 it could be worse... you could have Bright House.... I don't think I have paid a full years worth of service yet.... Get credits from them... I think my biggest ( and most recent) from Bright House was $
normiss 723 #5 November 7, 2008 Reminds me of this fiber cable that used to be ran across my back yard. Damned if the weed eater or mower wouldn't hit it at least once a week. Seems 3 neighbors were connected via that cable. They even attached signs to it saying "Do NOT disconnect" - which I never did...After about the 8th time it broke, they finally fixed it right. doug925 0 #9 November 7, 2008 I too feel your pain! I am not feeling Comcastic right the F now! They came out at my request b/c my cable and internet are out at my house. The first thing that this "large women wearing comfortable shoes" does is ask my to sign a form stating I agree to pay $24.95 for then to come and diagnose my problem. Second she tries to sell me on some form of Cable Warranty program for $5 a month (so I won't have to pay them to come out in the future)The diagnosis was quick! Comcast had accidentally unhooked my cable instead of my non-bill paying neighbor! I asked jokingly if I still had to pay for the service call? "Oh it is already billed to your residence. You will have to call and ask for a refund, or appeal the bill WTF???I want Time Warner Back! COMCAST SUCKS ASS! Oh yeah, and I don't like them either. Doug. skybytch 259 #10 November 7, 2008 Two simple solutions. 1 - Get rid of the TV. -or- 2 - Get an antenna and a converter box. Do you really need 200 channels of shit on the TV to choose from?

I miss Insight, service has sucked ever since comcast took over. ___________________________________________ meow I get a Mike hug! I get a Mike hug! Misternatural 0 #14 November 7, 2008 When I first signed on to Comcast my Vonage connection did not work. which is bad because I have a business to run, which is damn near impossible with no phone while my clients sat there on the other end for a week wondering if I went bankrupt and absconded with their cash in the middle of their job. When I called every five minutes to speak to some resident of a Hindi speaking nation I was told the connection was my problem. no,no,no I said - get a tech out here- i know about how this cable crap works and I'll pay if it's my bad. well the tech arrived and discovered that the connection at the pole was circa MC Hammer and was totally shot and they replaced it no charge. Well that was not enough as I lost a week of business and demanded to bitch to a supervisor to whom I argued that I had lost thousands of dollars of business. They hooked me up with lots of free cable time as a result- so just bitch like hell to a super and tell them you've been on the internet ripping their business model a new one, and you should get a sweet deal.Beware of the collateralizing and monetization of your desires. Cari 0 #17 November 8, 2008 QuoteIs it not comcastic? LOL....my husband and I had Comcast for a while before we moved and we ended up referring to anything that sucked as being "Comcastic." Right now, we have Comcast for our internet, but that's because we live in the middle of nowhere and have somewhat limited high-speed options.
riddler 0 #18 November 8, 2008 I hate Comcast! And I don't even have cable television I use them for high speed Internet. I even bought my own modem. Then they DOCSISed their own firmware to it, which makes the modem reset 10 times per day! I have to take a trip to my basement and manually reset the stupid thing several times per day. This has been going on for a year! I had DSL a few times, and it's not nearly as fast as I need, and Qwest kills the DSL a few times a day, anyway, so Comcast is the lesser of two evils. If you call Comcast for support, you get retarded people that were extras in the movie Idiocracy saying they have no idea what's going on, even when you tell them exactly what the problem is. I even know how to fix it. But I can't do it myself - they need to flash an older version of the firmware to my modem, but they have no clue how to. Losers. I hope they get serious competition from Verizon fiber in Denver soon!!!! Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD
