Scoop 0 #1 November 6, 2005 Hi, Im wondering if someone could clear up what size a Raven1 reserve canopy is please. Im getting conflicting info and it would help me alot. Thanks
Hooknswoop 19 #2 November 6, 2005 PA measures it as 181 sq ft. PIA measures it at 199 to 203 sq ft. For comparison, the PD-193R is measured at 191 sq ft by the PIA. The problem is the measuring method used, quality control, the sewing process, etc. Derek
Scoop 0 #3 November 6, 2005 That would probably explain the misinformation then. Thanks

Hooknswoop 19 #6 November 7, 2005 Quote OK, now im really confused Crazy I guess im not gonna know til we actually see it Seeing it doesn't really help, unless you are going to measure it yourself. The label is going to say Raven 1, which PA says is 181 sq ft. The only measurement that really matters is to compare it to another canopy you have jumped and, even more important, see how it flys. riggerrob 623 #11 September 21, 2017 If you hang more than 180 pounds under a Raven 1, you are "a stupid, fat white man." That is because Ravens were designed long before any one was building canopies designed for wing-loadings more than 1 pound per square foot. Why anyone would expect a Raven to land softly at more than 1 pound per square foot is ..... um ..... er ...... optimistic ...... clueless ....... over confident .......
