craigslist

Recommended Posts

I used to have good experiences (mostly buying tickets and buying/selling small items) but there are so many friggin' scammers now that I find it too cumbersome to deal with. Whatever you are trying to do on CL just be careful and never ever ever under any circumstances use Western Union as a payment system as it will 99.99% of the time be a scam. The good news is the scammers are pretty easy to spot...it is just a nuisance to deal with them.

Funny...as I write this there is a story on the news about a Craigslist personal ad gone bad. A guy beat the crap out of a lady and threatened to kill her. So..don't use CL for personals. :P

I've sold some things on there and it went well. The only problem I had is that it generated lost of scammers who want to send you a check. I posted my resume on there too awhile ago and I will never do that again. Every day my email box would be loaded with what appeared to be a whole bunch of bogus jobs!

What kind of exprience has anyone here had on craigslist
Good, Bad, None,

I just bought a 27 inch tv that works great for 40 dollars last week. Needed something cheap until I got my things delivered from my stotage. If you are looking for good deals on items it is the place to find them.

I bought a printer from someone local about 6 months ago.
Got the printer very cheap.

It was all good until I found out the guy followed me home. He killed me and my entire Neighborhood in a blind psychotic rage because he didnt want to sell the printer but he lost everything in a divorce.

I used to like living and I wish I never used craigslist.
YMMV

I have used it twice as a seller:
- Set of mounted tires and rims from a new card.
- 27" tube-type TV.

Both times it sold promptly with the buyer showing up at my door with a wad of cash.
No complaints here.

I just got a killer deal on a 3 month old gas dryer last week off of Craigslist.

My advice is as a buyer check the ads often and respond quickly to good deals, also buy local so you can see your item before you pay for it..

Very good, both buying and selling. Make sure that you meet in a public location, if it is possible, bring a friend with you, too.

Make sure that you do your research beforehand, and know what you are buying.

There are many scammers that prey on Craigslist, trying the money order for more scam, etc. I would recommend only dealing with cash for smaller items, for larger items use cashiers checks and do the transaction in a bank. (I bought a motorcycle and we did the transfer exchange in a bank with a cashiers check, verified by the bank)

You will also get emails from people trying to lowball you, just ignore them.

good luck!
Fortunately, I'm adhering to a pretty strict, uh, drug, uh, regimen to keep my mind, you know, uh, limber.

We sold about $3000 worth of furniture when we had to combine two households. Worked great for me. The key was to delete my ad and make a fresh one every few days to get it back to the top of the list. As soon as I did that, I'd get e-mails within an hour. I got annoyed at the amount of people who wouldn't show up and didn't call to tell me they werern't coming, that's just rude.

The main thing I dont like is when you contact seller and they don't reply back or remove their add if the item is no longer available.

FYI: If the seller does not reply back, it means the item is no longer for sale :) The ad gets removed after 30 or 60 days anyway, doesn't it? I just usually don't respond to ads that are over a few days old.

Bought and sold lots of things. Have used it to hire others to do things for me that I don't want to do. Went out on a few dates ... The personals section is a little shady in my opinion. I went out with this one girl who said she had received several responses from men who wanted to paint her toe nails.

I am talking about within an hour or so of a new being posted. I don't look at anything more than 2 days old either.
