Nataly 38 #1 February 21, 2009 I just read the thread "How to get rid of her" and it reminded me of my house-mate... I share an apartment with 2 other people. In December, a new house-mate moved in with us... She comes to us straight from hell... At first, she came across as really nice and sweet. She works for a huge airline in HR, so we assumed she would be reliable, responsible and good with people... Little did we know... She is the ditziest, dumbest, most inconsiderate slob I have had the misfortune of meeting. I don't even know if she realises how disruptive she is, or if she's just totally oblivious because she really is that stupid. Here are some examples of what she does: -She opens all my mail, because she thinks that her name (Marie Aucel) looks a lot like my name (Natalie Leveille) -She took over the utility bills and thought we were supposed to have the same provider for gas and electricity, so she set us up with both instead of just changing the name on the account. As a result, we had to pay for 2 provides for gas. When she tried to fix it, somehow she set up a THIRD account instead!! -At least once per week she leave food on the stovetop or in the oven and forgets about it. Since my room is next to the kitchen, I usually smell once things start to burn, but firemen had to come twice to our house because the neighbors thought the smoke was so bad & she wouldn't answer the door (apparently, her ipod was in her ears both times so she didn't hear the VERY loud doorbell). -She makes a mess in the kitchen - a shared kitchen - every day but has never cleaned up after herself. We've told her to clean. We've left the mess for her to clean. TWO WEEKS later (after the pile-up became intolerable, we cleaned). We yelled at her, and she didn't see what the big deal was. She still doesn't clean. -She comes in at all hours and turns the TV on full-blast - did I mention my room is next to the kitchen/living-room? -She added her name to the council tax bills on the wrong date, and now the bill that was already settled has to be re-paid whilst we wait for a "reimbursement" for the amount that is now due. -She has taken over all the space in the shared bathroom, and wants everyone else to ask permission to use it since all her stuff is in there. She doesn't feel the need to ask us for permission and I told her to keep her shit in her room if she has a problem with taking showers when she wants to brush her teeth - she claims her room is too small to hold all her bathroom stuff, but she has the BIGGEST room in the apartment!!! No one else keeps anything in the bathroom... -She constantly comes into my room when I leave the door open, thinking it means I feel like chatting. I don't. I'm watching TV with my headset. She still talks. For hours. When I'm watching a DVD. Even after I say "sorry, but could you keep quiet because I'm trying to watch a movie." In my own fucking room!!! And she asks if she can watch with me - I say no and she asks me why and wants to talk about it!! -She did her laundry & had stuff in her pockets, which ruined all my white clothes when I went to wash them after her. -She "forgets" to shut the front door when she enters/leaves the house. ie: people can just walk right into the place. No matter how many times my other house-mate and I have talked to her about all the things she does that piss us off, she doesn't change. Or she fixes one problem by creating another. AAAAARRRRRGH! It makes me not want to come home at the end of a long work day... What do you do??! Have them sign it. all folks living in the space should be able to adjust it as needed. Then when or if the aweful stuff goes down, you not only have recourse, but legal recourse in small claims court as well. It is what I would do.-Caress I've learned.... You could get them to sign, but by default you couldn't hold them to it!! The problem in this case seems to be that she is genuinely just an idiot. And how on earth do you get a moron to behave in a sensible way? I'm not sure it's even her fault - I think she's may just be quite stupid. We have tried everything that is reasonable..
