Jeiber and I were talking about if I left my industry after 10+ yrs, what would be really cool and relaxing to do. He said he'd choose to be a Porn Star:D and I thought it'd be cool to poke flowers into styrofoam and a vase, hand them to the customer and say "Have a nice day":)
Feel free to add other creative ideas of a cool job you'd like to have.

In real life I'm a television production freelancer and the closest thing I have to a real job is baseball season when I regularely shoot the Houston Astros. It's a pretty easy gig and I enjoy it - stress is pretty low. ***BUT*** These last two years with their runs for the playoffs, the playoffs, and this year making it to the World Series for the first time - yeah, there was just a little stress up at work in September and October. Also, that 18 inning game where they closed out Atlanta in the NLDS...geez, almost killed me. But, for most of the season, at least - it's a pretty stress-free job.

Oh yeah, I bought my beer - I'd never been to a World Series before...let alone get paid to shoot one.

Folks- There is no such thing as a stress free job. some how some way there would be some thing that would make it stressfull. This is why they call it work and no one says "I have to go to fun in the morning.":S

Just remember, it is always greener on the other side. It is really, I'm serious. There is a reason for that, it's because there is a leak in the septic tank.:D

A job that I had that was really cool, didn't pay jack though was Nursery Attendant. Somthing about working outside, moving plants, and helping customers. I really dug that gig. If I were independantly wealthy I would do that.

I have a friend, who opened her own flower shop, several years ago. Owning and working in a flower shop is not a stress-free job, especially not around Valentine's Day or when the wedding season hits. Obviously, they need to get booked for various receptions on weekends, such as weddings, parties, banquets, funerals, etc, which are all high-stress and time-sensitive functions. Their schedule would have to revolve around their clients' requests/functions. Would you really think that it would be stress-free when dealing with that many brides, knowing how picky they can be about floral arrangements?

Kaytee, any job can be stressful or stress-free, depending on a person's approach to his/her work. As they say, the grass is always greener on the other side. At least, that is how things appear to be on the surface. The reality is a totally different story.

Get a degree in Psychology, move out to LA and bill yourself as a plant therapist. You'll get to move plants around all you want, but make oodles of money doing it.

I used to have what many Men would consider the ultimate Job.

What could be better for a Guy that to have a Job where you could Drink all you wanted, sit around all Night and watch Nekkid women and all you had to do was play Music??
And get paid between $1200 to $2000 cash per week (That Unkle Sam didnt necessarily know about).

Strip Club DJ.

It turned out to be the most stressful Job I have ever had. 30 to 40 women working with you each night and each and every one thought you worked JUST for her. Most of them trying to drag you into their personal drama at all times. Screaming at you because "You played my song for her!!" and "Its your fault I’m not making any money". Then Hell week would hit (when all 40 of them would start PMSing at the same time).:S

No amount of money in the world could make me go back to that.

No matter how good the job sounds… There will be some stress involved.

I was talking to an ER nurse last week. Her schedule is three 12 hour days, two days off, three 12 hours days, six days off, repeat.

Only work three days (36 hours) a week (double-time for everything over that), and have 6 days off in a row every other week? Where do I sign up??!

Somehow I doubt that being an ER nurse is low stress though. ;)

Which one of those jobs is actually stress free?

Anything where you have to deal with a wide range of people and atitudes will eventually cause stress.

being your own boss will do it.

working under someone will do it.

I truly stress free job? Hmmmm.

Good question.

Surfing used to relieve my stress. Then again I was not in competition and I did it to get away from work and all.

I dunno.

It's funny you mention flower-shop.

I have a list of several jobs I'd love (but as VSG mentioned, would not necessarily be stress-free). I think if you really love it, your level of stress is lessened.

Anywho...owning a flower shop was one of them:D B/c I LOVE arranging flowers. My hunny ALWAYS gets me a bouquet instead of "an arrangement" b/c he knows either way, I'll re-arrange it my way;)

Owning a wildlife refuge.
Swim instructor (I did this for two years in college and it was amazing. I miss "my kids")
Novelest (I currently actually write a lot of freelance, but not under my realy name;)--I'm funny like that)

Oh my gosh, the list goes on...:P
Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

Now I think Forrest Gump had it all figured out. Operating a Rider Mower.

Oh man, some of the sweetest memories of my life were summers spent operating a John Deere mower. I had a summer job for my home town's Sewer Dept, which mostly consisted of mowing the huge lawns at their two sewage treatment plants. everybody else would be out in the field and I'd be driving the Deere around, smokin' doobs and keeping the lawn from running wild. That and painting the outside of the treatment tanks with a fresh coat of green paint evey summer.

Of course there was one time I had to put on waders and hop in, literally up to my waste in shit for an emergency repair in one of the tanks - but that was all a matter of maintaining the right attitude....

1. Multi-millionaire playboy, just sitting back and letting the dividends roll in.

2. Big bank CEO. You get a golden parachute that's several times what a normal person needs to retire on regardless of how poorly you do your job so there's no pressure to perform.

Unfortunately, I lack the money for the first option and am not scummy or connected enough to be a bank CEO. Maybe if they started an affirmitive action program for people who are human not slime and I got a nice suit + haircut?
