Adance 0 #1 August 28, 2005 I am in the process of down sizing from a 135 nitron to a ??? I was presented with the offer to jump a 120 marathon-of which i am not too familiar with' and have heard crazy stories....Please give me a bit of insight
bigorangemd 0 #2 August 28, 2005 Old canopy. Flies somewhat like a Sabre. Big difference from a Nitron (which flies like a larger canopy with a lot of flare) to a smaller Monarch. The flare power will be less and I think you'll like the way your Nitron flies much better.

billvon 2,396 #4 August 29, 2005 A Monarch is a Sabre1-era canopy. They fly similar to Sabre 1's, and have similar (slightly worse in my experience) hard opening issues.
hookitt 0 #5 August 29, 2005 Original Monarch opened like a train wreck. The next version with the droopdown nose was pretty good. It's nothing special. Jump it by all means but it won't compare to the Nitron. My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto

Jump it by all means but it won't compare to the Nitron. I had two of the original versions (as well as two original Sabres) and the Monarch opened like a fucking bomb! It was a slightly faster canopy than my Sabres, but the openings on both of them were brutal. Yes, there are ways to fix the brutal openings.
nicknitro71 0 #7 August 29, 2005 QuoteOriginal Monarch opened like a train wreck I take the train wreck any time I used to rant out a M155 years back. I think I'm still bruised up from it. Other than that it did not fly too bad but at the time I guess I did not know any better.Memento Audere Semper
