I am in the process of down sizing from a 135 nitron to a ??? I was presented with the offer to jump a 120 marathon-of which i am not too familiar with' and have heard crazy stories....Please give me a bit of insight

Old canopy. Flies somewhat like a Sabre. Big difference from a Nitron (which flies like a larger canopy with a lot of flare) to a smaller Monarch. The flare power will be less and I think you'll like the way your Nitron flies much better.

A Monarch is a Sabre1-era canopy. They fly similar to Sabre 1's, and have similar (slightly worse in my experience) hard opening issues.

Original Monarch opened like a train wreck. The next version with the droopdown nose was pretty good.

It's nothing special. Jump it by all means but it won't compare to the Nitron.

I had two of the original versions (as well as two original Sabres) and the Monarch opened like a fucking bomb! It was a slightly faster canopy than my Sabres, but the openings on both of them were brutal. Yes, there are ways to fix the brutal openings.

I used to rant out a M155 years back. I think I'm still bruised up from it. Other than that it did not fly too bad but at the time I guess I did not know any better.
