skymama 35 #1 July 2, 2009 Inspiried by Twoply's "Banana Splits" lunchbox. Some of you youngsters might not have had the good fortune to have a metal lunch box, but I sure do remember how exciting it was to go pick out a new one at K-Mart every school year. After a few months, you never could get the smell of rotten food out of them and the latch always ended up rusting over, but they sure were great for clobbering your sibling when you got irritated with them! My favorite was an Adams Family lunchbox. Anyone else have any fond memories of their lunchbox? She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon

LisaH 0 #5 July 2, 2009 Wow, this bring back memories. My favorite was the Lost In Space one. I loved it when my mom put soup in the thermos. I remember that old lunch smell and the rusty latch. Be yourself! MooOOooOoo

jumpingjunkie09 0 #7 July 2, 2009 My favorite was a Strawberry Shortcake lunch box! And yes, the latches on those things always rusted over, plus the lid would bend slighlty after a while and it would never close completely right! DavidB 0 #12 July 2, 2009 Lunch box I really REALLY wanted: Time Tunnel W/thermos Lunch box I received: Beverly Hillbillys w/o thermos At least it wasn as lame as my brother's Green Acres box... I envied those that "brown bagged" it, & my last lunch box was my favorite. It was a red & black tartan pattern with nothing else on it. Changing schools in 6th grade (1966) ended carrying lunch until I joined the real work force after 4 years serving Uncle Sugar. iopenhi 0 #25 July 2, 2009 Gomer Pyle was my favorite. I believe I carried it 'til the hinge gave up. I'm sure everyone was relieved when it was replaced. When we were stationed in Izmir, I carried a Turkish contraption that served well, but you couldn't put a thermos in it. No fruit and jello those years. I've since made up for the jello thing You can't make chicken salad out of chicken manure.
