NWFlyer 2 #26 September 15, 2009 Quote I can understand not wanting the hassle of getting into a long conversation and answering lots of silly questions when you were simply trying to have a short polite conversation about the weekend. Yep, most of my conversations with coworkers are at about that level. A few people know that I skydive, but those are folks that I've worked with for a while, or with whom I've hung out with for dinner or drinks after hours. Otherwise, it's just easier not to get into it, so I go for the vague but technically accurate and polite answer. "There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. And with it comes the only basic human duty, the duty to take the consequences." -P.J. O'Rourke
slcooper 0 #27 September 15, 2009 Quote Quote It gets brought up mostly by people asking about my closing pin necklace... Isn't that the reason you wear it ? Absolutely, I've been in this sport 3 months so I still enjoy talking about it whenever I get a chance Why would anyone jump out of a perfectly good airplane? Cause the door was open! jraf 0 #29 September 15, 2009 Quote Quote I would only push it upon the cop that would stop me speeding to the dropzone. Hoping he would ask a lot of questions and forget about the ticket. A D-license makes you exempt from speeding tickets. Q: How do you know if there is a skydiver in a crowd of 1,000 people? A: He WILL tell you about it!jraf Me Jungleman! Me have large Babalui. wmw999 2,120 #30 September 16, 2009 There were a decent number of people where I work who didn't have any idea I was a skydiver. Not so true any more -- our secretary (who is awesome) decided that JFTC would be a great morale-boosting thing. So, um, check out my office Wendy P. There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence.
