Requirement: Further use of the affected OMEGA/QUICK parachutes is prohibited. Compliance: As of the effective date of this Directive. This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 15 July 2005. Background: The LBA (German CASA equivalent) received two reports of incidents and one report of a fatal accident, where the Main parachute in combination with the Container-System did not fully deploy. The cause of the incidents and fatal accident is still under investigation. As an interim action until the investigation is finalised, further use of the affected parachutes is prohibited. This CASA AD has been issued in response to an AD issued by The German Luftfahrt-Bundesamt who has just issued the above mentioned EMERGENCY Airworthiness Directive D-2005-248 for all OMEGA ( ) / QUICK ( ) Personal Parachutes, manufactured by Performance Variable e.K. in Germany.
