still feeling great. They gave me the same shit that killed Michael Jackson.

My top two came out without warning - Crunch, Yank, Gone!

Bottom two - Different story. OMFG! There sure are a lot of nerve endings in the lower jaw. Good luck to ya when the juice wears off.

I was supposed to have all 4 of mine removed last January. I keep putting it off. The reason given was there are some microcavities on them and they can't be fixed/filled.

They're not hurting or bothering me in any way. Being a stay-at-home dad makes it hard to find the right time to get it done and have someone around to tend to the kids while I'm zoned out.

But really, I'm just lazy. :P

When I had mine out I just had novocaine and was awake for the whole thing. No silly gas or anything. He did give me vicodin for the pain. :D

I know the feeling. I had a referral to get them out 2 years ago but just never scheduled an appointment.

Any impacted? they knock you out for that, all I remember - :S one minute the doc was asking me some questions about frisbee while a drip of vallium and one of sodium pentathol was draining into my arm when the wallpaper all of a sudden melted off the wall and I woke up in another room with a mouth full of cotton while a scary nurse who had a face like the mother on Pink Floyd The Wall about three inches away from my eyeballs was saying I was waking up....very freaky:|

The next three days were spent in a bean bag chair watching Gilligans Island and The Price is Right with a pill jar of goofballs close at hand:D

They dont always knock you out. 3out of 4 my wisdom teeth were impacted. Again I was wide awake for all four when they were removed.

They knocked me out with nitrous when I got mine out. Not exactly sure what happened but I very vividly remember waking up half way through because my nose itched. :D Somehow through all the crap that was in my mouth I managed to tell the Dr. what was wrong. Once he itched my nose for me (and I heard him say, "crank it") I went right back to sleep. I spent the next 3 days doped up to high heaven on vicodin. :D:D:D

2 impacted. I got propofol to knock me out. Last thing I remember is getting a steriod and getting itchy then telling the doctor my ABC was itchy then having to explain what an ABC or Taint is. :D

that's awesome! I remember counting back from 10, then waking up and starting again at 3. Then I told the nurse I can swallow a pint of blood before it makes me sick, which i had just learned in physiology.

My family loves me enough to have had a video camera waiting for me when i arrived home. So we have footage of my family poking fun at me while I'm looped out of my mind. :D gotta love em!

Do any of you remember how long it took for the bleeding to stop?

I think that the bleeding will stop in 24 hours or so. I was awake for mine, local, and a general but awake, and one was really impacted. They removed two in about 30 seconds each, then worked on the impacted one for 15 minutes, or as it seemed, drilling, chiseling, prying, more drilling, chiseling, prying, etc.

About 6 months ago I had an implant done, again with local only. To do that, they drill like half an inch into the bone, and screw the implant in. They gave me Percocet I think, I took maybe a couple of the pills.

When I broke my arm rollerskating, the left over pain med was really handy. The doctor asked "do you feel any pain", I said "not much, I took a couple of these." then showed her the bottle. She said "You have that?!"

Ironic I think that dental surgeons prescribe pain med like it's nothing. But my MD will tell me to take Ibuprofen for some shit that actually does hurt.

That reminds me, one of the only clean shirts I had was my "Warning: If I wake up with marker on my face I'LL STAB YOU" t-shirt so I wore that. The staff loved it and even took a picture of it because one employee was out sick but in the past she has drawn on friends who were under. :D

it's totally true, the dentist gave me 3 prescriptions, 2 weeks supply of tylenol 3 with codene, anti-inflamitories with pain relief, and amoxicillan. I haven't taken any pain killers yet they don't hurt at all.

It's crazy how fast you get knocked out you are talking to them one minute and the next all of a sudden you wake up and want a big glass of water. Then tryto ask the nurse lady for one with gauze in your mouth hahaha

I had a "free exam" in my late teens that was covered under my dental insurance.. I went and sure enough, the wisdom-teeth-specialist-dude told me they had to come out. In fact, according to him they would never grow on their own because my mouth was too small.. I'm like "no way that's true because everyone knows I'm a big-mouth and anyway you're only saying that 'cause you get $200 per tooth!!" :D:D

So I walked out and about 1 week later one of my wisdom teeth started growing - so I felt justified in not getting them removed..

Then about 2-3 weeks later, said tooth/gumline got REALLY infected.. Funnily enough, there was no room for the tooth to grow.. :S

Was in SO MUCH agony for the next month (it was during exams) that I went & got all 4 removed. Was awake the whole time and for the tooth that was still a bit infected felt EVERYTHING. It fucking HURT like nothing I've ever experience - thank god it was over in a matter of seconds.

Never took any pain meds - didn't feel any pain.. Although my whole head did swell up to about the size of a basketball!! :D:D:D:S
