I bet it would. Preseason rankings mean nothing as far as Saban is concerned. All it means is that Alabama will be under pressure from the beginning. Who was the last team to go wire-to-wire? Easier said than done.

Alabama returns the bulk of their offense, but loses 2/3rds of their starters on defense. Then again, all they have to do is reload, thanks to #1 recruiting classes the last two years and a possible 3rd straight #1 class coming up if Alabama can close strong on signing day. And believe me, Alabama is loaded at almost every position nowadays.

We'll see where everything shakes down as the season goes along. Alabama has to play Penn State early in the 2010 season, so I will be interested in how Ohio State fares against the Nittany Lions in comparison. ;)

We gots to play the U also and they should be pretty tough next year. That game is actually on my wedding day. What a trap I have set for myself :|

I agree that preseason polls mean nothing just thought I would share it as it involves our teams :P

You dumb-ass! When getting ready to plan out a wedding date, ALWAYS discreetly check the sports schedule in advance, THEN discuss with the SO, but NEVER slip in WHY that date won't work. ;)

Hell, who am I kidding? I got married on the 2nd biggest date of the Alabama football season in 2000 - the Alabama - Tennessee game. :S But hey, it worked out anyway. I didn't want to see Alabama lose. :D That year was one of our worst in history, I think we went 3-8. :S

Oh I remember that year [:/]. I just got a hook up for that date with full open bar and I mean FULL for free. There are tv's there so I took the booze. ;)

Holy crap! Just found out that Southern Cal has hired Lane Kiffin away from Tennessee after just one season as the Vols coach!

He was an offensive assistant with the Trojans during their glory years coaching QBs Matt Leinart and John David Booty, and knows the landscape out there better than here in the southeast.

Now I feel better after having to endure what Dennis Franchione did to Alabama several years ago.

Sucks to be a Vols fan now.

Ya it does suck as a fan and normally I understand when coaches leave but this? It better have been way more money because both those programs are top notch. I think I would rather stay in the SEC but then again it is a much harder road than in the PAC-10.

That's fretty damn funny. :D but sad [:/]

Eh, Tennessee's much better off with the three stooges going to Hollywood (Both Kiffins and Orgeron). It's going to be fun watching the NCAA nail these suckers. They've been contacting recruits that committed to Tennessee and trying to get them to commit to USC instead. I'm not sure exactly what the rules say but it sounds illegal. :S

I'm no USC fan by any stretch, but what exactly is wrong with recruiting after a coaching change? No one has committed until March 3, and I'd personally love to spend 4 years in Southern Cal. The only guys I feel sorry for are the mediocre players Carroll recruited that may not get a chance to play once the top Tennessee recruits jump ship.

I think there are restrictions because of "conflict of interest" in regards to recruiting. Kind of like leaving one sales job and taking clients to the next company. There may be no restrictions before March 3rd but at the same time its kind of dirty but I think that is what he is.... dirty. He has a HOT wife though so he def. knows how to close :D

She's hot alright... see link: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/01/13/layla-kiffin-picture-phot_n_421647.html

What a tragedy, for a hottie to be married to a schmuck. [:/]:D

Hell, she could do some porn flicks... Hollywood is just a step away. :D
