The_Don 0 #1 May 20, 2010 As I sat on my back deck this morning drinking coffee, I heard something bang around by the shed. I see what looks like a cat run into the fence line.. Nope a baby fox!! It comes out to play in the sun, followed by 1, then another! The 3 of them are out in broad daylight romping, jumping & playing for about 5 minutes till.. MOM! She rounded them up & back under the shed they go. I went to the side of the shed & found their entrance hole. I could hear them yipping & playing still. Will try for pics in the morning. Fucking cool!I am NOT being loud. I'm being enthusiastic!

lurch 0 #10 May 20, 2010 Cool factor 10.0 out of 10. I've seen something similar just once...working third shift, 2 AM, warm humid night, everything quiet, suddenly family of foxes came out to play in a pool of light near the front gate of the factory. I did not disturb or approach them, getting to see a bunch of tumbling playing foxes with their guard down when they thought themselves unobserved was a privilege. The secret lives of animals and all that. Enjoy your new neighbors man. -BLive and learn... or die, and teach by example.

rhaig 0 #16 May 20, 2010 cool. only time I've seen anything similar is when a buddy asked me to come shoot the coyote that was getting into his hen house. Saw it playing around outside his fence line while I was drinking my coffee. Wasn't long before it went into predator mode and made a move on the chickens.-- Rob

MikeJD 0 #19 May 20, 2010 Won't be so cool when your shed disappears into the ground. Those critters do like to dig Living in suburban London I see foxes on the street all the time, and they're very bold. I think it's great to have wild animals of that size padding around the neighbourhood. I had an earth in my back garden (which is only about 20 feet long!) for years, and they'd often sleep in the sun on top of a table I have out there. They seemed to co-exist quite happily with my cats, too. The only real damage they did was to the fences, from continually jumping over them. And of course they tear open bin bags if you leave them out, because people's leftover food is a large part of their diet.

BillyVance 34 #23 May 20, 2010 I have seen red foxes in my back yard a few times. One day I had my cats outside with me and I saw a fox at the edge of the woods about a football field length away, watching my cats intently. Skinny body and bushy tail, so easy to identify them. Lots of wild critters around my yard. I love where I live. Remove the predators.... and you get an explosion of mice and other critters. You know where I live and that wonderful wooded hillside overlooking the valley supports a pretty good deer population... they have decided that my rose bushes and other flowers are fair game..... its ok.... as long as I see that same buck that is in velvet when the season roills around. He is messin with the WRONG predator.
