Bird identification

Recommended Posts

Buddy of mine took some pictures of what he realized was a baby or very young bird and couldn't figure out what type it was. I looked in my guide book of birds, but it does not include "immature" photos for all birds, just some.

My gut feeling is, it's a blue jay. Anybody?

Your guess looks correct.

Hmmm. The scale is hard to judge. Is it a big baby? Also, it would be easier to id with a face shot if it is a blue jay. It is way too dark (again may be the scale or lighting) to be a blue jay chick, but the tail feathers are magnificent! How big was it? The plumage can tell the species, but size and coloration have to match...Really CUTE!
can I borrow a jump ticket real quick?
