I was surprised about two sections when I was reading it. The first was the chapter on cooking every sort of organ from an animal you could think of. I guess nothing went to waste! I didn't believe the recipe for calf brains when it said, "if prepared correctly, it could be quite tasty". The other section that surprised me was the new sugar-free section. It wasn't in there for low-calorie meals, it was there because of rationing. The author reminded everyone that no matter what the circumstances were, they must always remain cheerful when faced with challenges. She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon
 BillyVance 34 #5 August 3, 2010 QuoteJust over the weekend, I came across my grandmother's copy of "The Joy of Cooking", circa 1943.
