Calvin19 0 #1 August 8, 2010 AMAZING. (this is why I sold my skydive rig and bought a paraglider 5 years ago) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iQJsl8WpqqY I flew with these guys in swiss land last year, needless to say they are the best of the best. and really awesome guys. good story also. If you want a good story/documentary with awesome PG footage look up Gabor and Pals' video of them learning to fly acro. -SPACE-

bertusgeert 1 #4 August 9, 2010 HA! That's crazy. I've been flying on and off for a couple of years and still wondering how the tumble is initiated, going from spiral to over the top. I was going to post a video of what I thought was the world record (solo, that is) at ~120, but then found this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rlr5HiWZbrc And this is amazing as well. We should try it out of a plane sometime. http://vimeo.com/1684334 --------------------------------------------- As jy dom is moet jy bloei!
Calvin19 0 #5 August 9, 2010 I have jumped my PG from a plane, pretty complicated and very hard on the gear. the tumble, or any 'transitional' dynamic maneuver is pretty hard to time. Of course, I have never tumbled. The tumble, at least more than one rotation, takes pretty hard core equipment. the gliders used to tumble are VERY acro-specific. a regular glider CAN "tumble" if enough energy and timing is put into it, but only once or twice before the energy is lost. -SPACE-

So what size wing does it take to foot launch ten people at 11+k ft? And what's more, to then land that huge wing with just his own weight. Watch how he gets no penetration on landing, but the glider just floats back when he's touched down. And then the tandem comes cruising in. --------------------------------------------- As jy dom is moet jy bloei!

kallend 1,621 #14 August 10, 2010 Very cool, but it looked more like looping than tumbling to me. There are some pretty nice tumbles in Sean D. Tucker's routines: www.youtube.com/watch?v=B0DwvhVQmiA... The only sure way to survive a canopy collision is not to have one.
