RALFFERS 0 #1 August 20, 2010 I pay Verizon x amount of money for unlimited everything - minutes, texts & data. But I was wondering if unlimited really does mean everything. I listen to Pandora A LOT & also use my phone as a GPS - my Garmin is only for long distance trips at this point. So I'm pulling massive amounts of data. Icon134 0 #2 August 20, 2010 I used almost 2 GB of Data last month over the Verizon network... and haven't been charged anything extra nor do I expect to be charged any extra... GPS will only use "data" when it's trying to draw a map of your current location... unlimited should be unlimited... however... your unlimited service probably doesn't apply to tethering with a computer to share the phones connection... but as long as you're just working with your phone... you should be fine...Livin' on the Edge... sleeping with my rigger's wife... I check my phone every now & then to see exactly how much data I'm using - but it's measured in kilobytes, not megabytes or gigs. Apparently, they were on a mission to see how many texts they could send. Their bill supposedly had to be sent in a 20 lb-50 lb box. Most of my work related texts are simple messages that I get from the boss and pass down to the other soldiers, I can send the message to 15 guys at once, in far less time and not have to worry about leaving a voicemail if they dont answer. I get a text back from each one of them confirming they got the message, and thats 32 texts in a few mins. Besides, the girl I was dating texted _alot_ so my numbers went through the roof. You don't, but many people (especially with iPhone 3G's) were teathering well before it was an option. Apparently AT&T couldnt tell what you were and werent teathering because of the way the systems work, so they couldnt tell who was using it. And I had to get rid of unlimited data plan for the new phone...apparently they are phasing out unlimited data and are considering moving people who have it to other plan. It was a good business move when they instigated it, but not anymore. So if you got verizon...don't count on unlimited data for too much longer. champu 1 #25 August 20, 2010 When the iPhone first came out there were numerous horror stories about people setting up their plan incorrectly and getting 5-figure phone bills in the mail. There were still more stories of people getting encyclopedic paper statements that included every text, call, or data access that was made and they showed up in boxes rather than in an envelope. I've been with AT&T for a little over 6 years and have only had one billing screw up which they fixed without arguing with me. Unlimited anything doesn't make much sense for us. I've been keeping an eye on our data usage, and I'm probably going to drop us both down to at&t's new 2GB plan to save an extra $10/mo. We both vary between 300MB and 1GB.
