Here come the GATORS!

Recommended Posts

SEC, get ready to be rocked by UF again this year.

The only game I in the air on is Bama. I believe Tuscaloosa can go either way, but I do believe there is a good chance Florida gets out of Tuscaloosa with a Win. I think Brantley will expose the Bama secondary, which will be the start of Bama's long football season.

After that, I think we have the potential to run the table.

Also, I believe Meyer and the team are still fuming over the loss in Atlanta last year at the SECCG. Look for this team to come together and have a great season.

Look forward to having a Gator Nation party in Glendale

Does anyone else find it funny that we made a SPORT out of an EMERGENCY PROCEDURE?!?!

IMO, Texas Tech and Hawaii fans are the worst. :P

That said, Gator and Bama fans aren't that far behind. Yes, I said Bama fans. It's hard not to get a big head when your school has 13 national championships (depending on who's counting) and last season did something no other team has ever done. Don't remember exactly what it was though, but that was last year. ;)

I don't necessarily agree with the preseason rankings making Alabama #1. A lot of it is due to how last year ended, plus the fact that Bama is one of the most loaded teams around, especially on offense. It is supposed to be nearly unstoppable. Well, I'll believe it when I see it.

The biggest question mark of course is the defensive backfield. Bama lost 3 starters, plus 3 or 4 more in back-ups either to the NFL, suspension, injury or left the team. So yeah, we're real thin on experience, but not in talent. Remember, Saban is a defensive back specialist, plus they have some athletes listed at other positions that can be converted to a DB if need be.

The game plan for Florida that Alabama has to execute to have any chance of winning, is for the defensive line and linebackers to get to the QB first. Don't give him time to throw. Jerry Brantley is one of the most talented drop back passers in the nation. But, any QB can be rattled. Alabama's group of linebackers are one of the top 3 in the nation and the deepest, and their linemen are no slouch either. I just hope we can get Dareus cleared by the NCAA and be in the game. He's an absolute terror. Linebacker Dont'a Hightower is better than last year's Butkus award winner Rolando McClain. Hell, Alabama can rotate the starters and back-ups in and out of the line and linebacker positions without much of a drop-off in ability and talent. They are that damn good.

Alabama likes to play ball control and smash-mouth offense, and mix in the pass. If they can throw when the defense thinks run, and run when a pass is expected, I don't think there is a team capable of stopping them. Not for a full 60 minutes anyway. They have the best running back duo in the nation, and are loaded at wide receiver. The line should be better than last year too. Expect Alabama to pass more this year though. They may have to anyway, and I'm okay with that, we have the QBs (yes, plural) to do it well.

If opponents are able to pass on Alabama, as I expect to some degree, Alabama is going to have some much closer games than last year. I expect a loss here and there too, I mean going 14-0 two years in a row is about damn near impossible these days. And yes, I can't wait for the Bama-Florida game to get here! But Penn State comes before Florida. ;)

It's gonna be an interesting season. Bring it on! :)

For you Gator fans, you need to watch the Alabama-Arkansas game the week before the Tide and Gators play each other.

How that game goes can give you an idea of how the Gators will do against the Bama secondary. Ryan Mallet is a monster. You know he gave the Gators fits last year. I don't know how Alabama crushed the Hogs last year either, but it's going to be a different story this time.

Hell yeah, the gators have been in the top 5 recruiting classes for years.

Alabama has been right up there with them the last 3 years, and next year's class is already in the top 5 based on verbal commitments.

Alabama-Florida is the new Michigan-Ohio State. ;)

I noticed SEC is a bit more out of their conference this year. I know it's always had the the college prep schools the first game of the season :P but have you seen the SEC grid this year? Ole Miss playing Jacksonville and Tulane?
