Skydiving or Skiing?

Recommended Posts

Quote

After years of being a skier, I quit it to skydive as much as I could. Nolo contendere.:P

Some people do both, but I'd pick skydiving every time. B|

Until skydiving develops something comparable to the double chair lift, and the slope-side bar, it will still be a piss-poor substitute for skiing singles.:P

I look forward to doing both and will probably get a shit ton of snowboarding in this winter. Just found out my family owns a cottage up in Big Bear so if anyone is interested in some trips up that way this winter let me know. Still working on getting the keys right now.

Patrick de Gayardon (RIP) did both at the same time! A bit more awkward than skysurfing, but he made it look pretty good.

When I used to jump at Gap-Tallard (at the foot of the French Alps), early in the season there'd still be plenty of snow on the slopes and we'd fly over skiers on our way to altitude. That was pretty cool, and an ideal DZ if you wanted to do both activities in the same trip.

Such a tough shout but I think skiing. That means you can go away for a week and not just four days! Get some of that mountain air in your lungs!

I'm off to Vermont next month and I'm pretty stoked. Had to miss out on skiing last year due to illness but we've booked our chalet now http://www.casamundo.co.uk/usa so we're all set!
We couldn't choose between the resorts for ages as we normally go to Sugarbush http://www.skisite.com/downhillDetail.cfm?id=857 but we decided to go for nearby Mad River Glen http://www.gottagoitsnows.com/skiareas/1200.html in the end. Its meant to be pretty epic but we're really looking forward to it. My best friend Jay isn't too happy as they've banned snowboarding up there so hes having to rent skis for the week. Still managed to convince him to come though!
The snow forecast http://www.skisite.com/downhillDetail.cfm?id=854 is looking pretty good so far so fingers crossed it stays sweet for when we get there! Go skiing man! I'm getting excited just talking about it!

Thats awesome to hear!
We were a bit unsure about it as its always a bit daunting going to a new resort when you have no idea how good the runs are going to be. But I'm happy to hear that its geared towards more advanced skiiers. We love a challenge! ;)
It took us ages to try and find us somewhere good to stay there as well as every website recommended different ski chalets. Absolute nightmare!
We ended up booking with this company in the end though: http://www.casamundo.co.uk/ so hopefully it works out okay.

Will let you know what I think of mad river when I get back!
