Vibes for my doggie

Recommended Posts

My dog is really sick, and I'd just like some vibes. Started with unspecified pain attributed to back trouble (he's part dachsund), but the pain medicine really tore up his stomach -- it's a possibility, but he was the 1% who had a really bad reaction.

He's been vomiting for the last several days, got that stopped mostly because he quit eating. Then I managed to hit a blood vessel while giving him fluids (it's not easy), and he had to go back to the vet for that. Drinking some now, but still not interested in food to speak of.

Poor guy. He's a good little guy, and I hate to see him miserable and in pain. Going back to the vet tonight (we've been daily since Thursday), and maybe to a specialist tomorrow. If it's life-alteringly major then that's likely to be it; I'm not into prolonging an unhappy life. But not knowing is really bad -- no assurance he's getting better, and he's just miserable.

So, a few vibes please?

My Millie says 'Hi' and 'Get well soon'

Have you tried Hydro Therapy? I've heard great things as it helps distribute weight and all.

.. wow to add... just after I wrote the above I turned to the T.V and there was a Dachund with a back injury, under going Hydro Therapy (really seemed to be enjoying it too) - - spooky

Awww... I hate to read posts like these. Sending out some good, healing vibes to your lil doggie and also some to you as well!

I'm not sure if you know what caused the back pain - but almost 2 years ago my lil guy simply jumped off the couch and ruptured a disc in his back. Hours later he went paralyzed from it, had surgery... and after a month (or so) regained full use of his back end again and has been fine (though w/a lil limp still) since. He's a bichon/shih-tzu mix - so they tend to have some of the same back issues dachshund's also seem to be prone to. Just thought I'd share in case maybe the pain was from something similar as it can get better w/time...

Again - I hope your lil guy feels better soon!

Nope, not Rimadyl. And it might have been coincidental, as an ultrasound shows abnormalities in the stomach that might be an ulcer, but are more consistent with an early cancer.

We're taking the trip this morning; he hasn't eaten in a week, is getting worse, and started shying away from me because there were about 6 different things I did to him each day, besides trying to force-feed him. That's no way to live. I quit fucking with him last night -- he needs to trust his owner.

He's lying somewhat comfortably next to me right now; we're waiting for my son to come over so we can go to the vet. When you're a doggie, things are better when the master is right next to you.
