His most interesting way of dispatching the annoying fuckers was building a metal grid wired to a switch that was plugged into the wall outlet, about 2 feet by 2 feet square, and setting a bowl of birdseed in the middle. Once a squirrel sat down at the bowl to munch away, he'd press the button and the poor sap would jump at least 3 feet in the air and scamper off! Sometimes even jump off the porch to the ground 20 feet below! I like birds better. Squirrels are bullies when it comes to sharing food with the birds. I have seen plenty of videos and am still amazed at their thinking ability to outsmart any obstacle. If they fail, they try again, and again, and again. As for the catapult, it just tosses them over the fence into the next yard. They'll bounce a couple times, shake it off and move on. That was not a happy grandma! Was my parent's place. Now my mom keeps a low power bb gun in the kitchen that looks out the back and shoots them off the fence, etc. Only enough power to sting them, but they seem to learn.
