Slider grommet diameter Icarus

Recommended Posts

Hi,

just got a new Crossfire 2 canopy and I used to pull the slider all the way down behind my head. It seems like the diameter of the grommets of the slider is a little bit smaller than on my Nitro and Stiletto canopy. The grommet gets stuck on the riser were the toggles are and the brake lines going to the back. I use Relative Workshop Micron risers, the one with the pin.

Anyone had the same problem?

Yeah, its a pain in the ass, but they'll come down. I really wish they would have used larger grommets, but they didn't and since I can still get my slider down I'm too lazy to call them and ask about a different slider.

the velocity 90 I demo had a stainless grommet the was small hole, so I need it to bring the grommet slow over the brake. I think all the manf, use same size grommet.
The brass grommet is bigger than the stainless, easy to bring down pass the brake, stainless last longer but can fire your brake and cause a spin

I have heard it with more that just Icarus, (the velo being one of them). My suggestion would be to make sure you dont accumulate a lot of bulk near the toggles, (ie stowed brake line/keeper). Try to keep the stowed brake line flat.

I have found that after a few jumps, the toggles start to find a "shape" that alows the slider to pass a bit easier.

I have a couple hundred jumps on xfire2's and have never gave it much thought.

Just dont pop a toggle as you are doing it!!!!:S;)
