Today's fall may have pushed me over the edge and force me to finally see the ortho. BLECH g "Let's do something romantic this Saturday... how bout we bust out the restraints?" warpedskydiver 0 #43 February 11, 2011 Hope you are actually icing/elevating the leg, if you get lucky it will heal on it's own and then you won't get a Frankenscar.Pain, or surgery+pain you choose.
PiLFy 0 #44 February 12, 2011 Hi, W'dSkydiver is right. You should follow R.I.C.E (Rest/Ice/Compression/Elevation) for this. You should also take 600-800mg of Ibuprofen, three times a day. When your Ortho gets back from his vacation. He'll put you up on a table, & push/pull on your knee in certain ways. He'll be able to quickly isolate any instability, & tell you more. If your leg is giving out on you? It does sound like you tore a ligament. If the tear isn't too bad. You may be able to get by without surgery. On the bright side. You get out of doing any housework this weekend. R.I.C.E & Ibuprofen is the standard initial treatment for these types of injuries. I wish you the best of luck w/this. Now, put the butter on your skin before you get the hose again...

PiLFy 0 #50 March 4, 2011 Did you go to an Ortho, or a regular GP? It sounds like you went to a GP. An Ortho Doc will tell you right then & there if there is any instability in your knee. An MRI will show if anything is torn. MRIs don't always see everything. I've never seen one of a knee. I hope everything goes well for you.
