Done moving, had the first skydiver party (fortunately Cathy isn't _too_ mad at me for throwing her in the pool) and unpacked halfway. Right now the house is covered in scaffolding because our insurer is threatening to drop us unless we get about $15K worth of fireproofing done. And we've had to replace the pressure regulator, faucets, a bunch of electrical stuff, lights, pool stuff . . . all the joys of home ownership.

Ack, that's a lot of repair work. Did the home inspector give you a heads up prior to the purchase that you'd need a lot of work done? Was anything disclosed as a pre-existing condition? Regardless, it's a great house. If you love, buy it and fix it, right?

For the most part. Some was covered under the new-home warranty that our bank made us get. (Refrig bit the dust about an hour after the previous owners moved, for example.) Some wasn't really a problem (like the eaves) but someone else wanted it (our insurer.) Fortunately we got a pretty thorough set of inspections (pool, geotech, general, mold) so we knew about all the actual problems.

When I bought my current house, the owners were not going to leave the frig, washer, and dryer, so I bumped up the offer a bit to get them to leave them.

Friggin' washer and frig both croaked in the first year.
