NWFlyer 2 #1 April 13, 2011 Be sure to check out tonight's new episode of MythBusters, featuring Bay Area Skydiving and the ever-charming Gareth Holder (poor guy apparently had to spend the day strapped to Kari ). 9 p.m., Discovery Channel (repeats at midnight for those of us who also want to record Modern Family )."There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. JohnMitchell 16 #5 April 13, 2011 Cool. We'll set the TIVO. Do you think Kari would like to make a tandem with Puget Sound in the background?

BillyVance 34 #7 April 13, 2011 I remember doing a couple jumps with Gareth at Monterey Bay. Been a long time though. normiss 737 #12 April 14, 2011 It IS TV. My guess is they wanted her to look more "skydiver" than "wuffo". Everyone else was wearing a parachute!
ryoder 1,589 #13 April 14, 2011 Quote Why is Kari wearing a student rig OVER the tandem harness???? Some chicks are really into harnesses. jf951 1 #14 April 14, 2011 the chance of bumping into her is ALMOST enough for me to start jumping out at skydance...almost. whats that funny looking thing on the 3rd finger of her left hand? ...probably nothing important, at least not to a skydiver. Jump more, Bitch less.
MikeJD 0 #15 April 14, 2011 QuoteAlrighty...they haven't even jumped yet and I have a question. Why is Kari wearing a student rig OVER the tandem harness???? Because from what I've seen of that show it's badly named - too much emphasis on entertainment over proper scientific experimentation. There were some pretty big holes in the way they approached the skydiving-themed myths that I've seen - I'm sure that's also true of the stuff I know nothing about! There often isn’t a myth. They already know if it is busted, confirmed or plausible from the get go.
gjhdiver 0 #17 April 14, 2011 QuoteAlrighty...they haven't even jumped yet and I have a question. Why is Kari wearing a student rig OVER the tandem harness???? We had Kari in a student rig to do close to door shots when we were releasing the ice blocks from altitude. When we had done those, we moved her back in the plane, removed the rig and hooked her to me, the lucky girl. She did two tandems with me that day, and the one you see is a composite edit between the footage from Clay, the footage from the helicopter, and the footage from the GoPro strapped to her left hand.... Given the purpose of a WDI is to determine what the winds are doing I'd say hitting the peas is good luck. Unless you ALREADY know what the winds are doing. In which case you dont need the WDI.You are not now, nor will you ever be, good enough to not die in this sport (Sparky) My Life ROCKS! How's yours doing?
