What's you favourite Live Album ?

Recommended Posts

"Ladies and Gentlemen - The Grateful Dead" ! Recorded in April 1971 at the Fillmore East in NYC. A 4 disc box set of the Dead's final 5 night stand before Graham closed the place. They were still young, lean and completely insane, with a very tight basic sound after the departure of their second drummer and keyboardist.

Truth is, practically ALL the best live albums in those days were recorded at Fillmore East. That old theater had incomparable acoustics. Hendrix, The Allman Brothers, Clapton, Jefferson Airplane, as well as The Dead all recorded their best live releases there.

'Got Live if You Want it' The Rolling Stones

Can't recall the exact title but... Rod Stewart and The Small Faces.
For being drunk or drugged-up at the time, they really had some 'tight' music and talented musicians.

John Mayall and the Blues Breakers.

Skynyrd's One More From The Road is the definitive live album.

Seger's Live Bullet is a close second.

Don

Those were the 2 that came to mind immediately. AND Woodstock and The Last Waltz.

I would also add (and I'm not sure it counts in this context) Les Miserables concert recorded in 1987.
Most of the things worth doing in the world had been declared impossilbe before they were done.
Louis D Brandeis

Where are we going and why are we in this basket?

Pleased to see so many people digging Little Feat...but my vote has to go to:

The Allman Brothers Band: Live at The Fillmore

I was gonna post that too, but you & Tom Brown beat me to it. So here's my vote for it.

Same here, but then I got to thinking... there is a highly underrated live album from Gregg Allman himself, "The Gregg Allman Tour," 1974. Love the live version of "Queen of Hearts."

Seems that some of the best music came from musicians getting high. Louis Armstrong might had never wrote "What a Wonderful World" if not for his life long use of the "Beautiful Gage", as he called it.:)

He always looked like he was stoned. Turned out he smoked quite a bit of pot daily the majority of his life till he died.

Yup! Many jazz and 'big band' musicians of the 1930's and 40's and composers thought weed was the spark of inspiration and used it regularly.
