Royal wedding

Recommended Posts

Watching the Royal wedding makes me happy to not have to live to etiquette, it was more about (ahem) you know who than the happy couple, they do look happy and that is what matters, but geez man, my wedding was heaps better than that farcical codswollop...

I hope they didn't forget to tie the tin cans to the bumper. Wouldn't it be something if, after all the planning, hoopla and pageantry, something as basic as that is forgotten! ...and where the heck are all the hot bridesmaids? What's the point in having a reception party without them?

To each their own Rhys, personally I loved the wedding. Its a great day to be in London.

What a lovely way to spend people's taxes. :|

Yeah, but think about all the money being made from the event as well...

Meh, I don't think it'll harm the economy. Most of the money goes to the Brits for all the supplies, staff, and preparation etc.

Then you got the increased income from tourism, and then there's all the merchandising: Royal Wedding t-shirts, ball caps, action figures, breakfast cereals, etc.

From what I've seen the declared economic loss was a lot more than the gain. I can't guarantee the accuracy of the reports, but the estimate was for a loss of several billion pounds, considering the day was made a public holiday.

Here's another source stating a similar thing: http://articles.latimes.com/2011/apr/27/world/la-fg-britain-wedding-economy-20110428

Majority of the information indicates an economic loss dwarfing any potential economic gain.

She looked hot, he was handsome, westmnster abbey is a great piece of architecture, but the god bothering crap stole the limelight off the beutiful bride.

I don't buy that at all... Bank holidays "cost money", of course... But you cannot reliably estimate that cost because following a day off people are happier, rested, more creative, and more productive. Even if the day wasn't officially a day off, people would all be glued to their computer screens and that's hardly very productive...

And an awful lot of people not working are out there spending shitloads of money (mainly on booze and food and also stupid souvenir shit)...

So again... Not convinced.

I *will* say, however, that the average tax-payer has no say over how their money is spent on the wedding, and that the wealth generated from the event isn't reaching everyone equally either... So yeah - it's being taken away and re-distributed, but not necessarily from/to the same people...

What's not to like about Kate. She is a hottie and she does not come from aristocratic roots. She appears to be very much down to earth. As long as she does not divorced William, one day she will be my Queen. But honestly I could care less about the British Monarchy.

Since the wedding took place in the middle of my night I had to decide, stay up all night watching hours and hours of pomp and ceremony and then be a basket case all day long, or sleep. I chose sleep. I don't need to be watching this wedding, not even on replay.

Next ...

Royally screwed!

You have to wonder how you could choose to marry into that situation knowing the hell Princess Diana went through. She was almost literally loved to death.

Kate must really love him.
