Female Weekend at Spaceland

Recommended Posts

This weekend Spaceland in Houston hosted the Jump for the Rose / Texas Women's State Record jumps, benefitting http://www.the-rose.org.

With a total of 40 women involved (2 had to leave after one day), we:
raised over double our goal
got 5 USPA records (we just kept beating ourselves):)Got an additional unofficial POPtarts record
Had a ton of fun
No reserve rides
Gave away some cool raffle prizes
Worst injury was from jumping out, not landing
Did I mention we had a ton of fun?:)

Oh, there was a rousing round of "biff bingo" (how many complete standups on a load) with a pretty solid number of women falling down on the last load of the day . But the nice thing about falling down deliberately is that you get back up and jump again.

Wasn't able to jump after injuring my shoulder on a friday jump, but decided to stay the whole weekend to see how everything turned out. I lost my mom to cancer so I volunteered to help out however I could, but with my left arm in a sling and half conscious from the pain-killers, I wasn't much good to anyone.:S

But just being there and being a part of the excitement as the record was topped 5 times was well worth it. Congrats to all the jumpers involved in the record.:)

We're doing it again this year, only this time there's formal organizing for the guys, and for women who either don't want to or aren't experienced enough to participate. More fun is planned for everyone!

October 8 and 9 -- details are in the events forum (where they belong :))
